Hi all,

New to Ford, Bought my wife an 08 Territory, which apparently shares the common engine as a BA FALCON.

The engine light has come up on dash, scan-tool identifies one cam advanced, one retarded. Mechanic who scanned said it was codes P1381 and P1383.

Have been Advised to have VCT Solenoids removed and cleaned. Worst case scenario replaced.

Since $330 is what I have been quoted as minimum for labour and the parts themselves would be approx. $250 each.

I wanted to know where they are located, and if its something that can be done by myself with only basic and old school engine experience.

$330 is a pretty fair price.

Unless you know what you are doing get a professional to do it.
