put my 1636 cam in my car re-set the ecu as w/shop manual ran the car for a week and now getting realy bad fuel consumption 350-380 to a tank and not giving it a hard time. i have taken the car to a mechanic who said to get a chip for it but the cam did not require any computer mods . has anyone else had the same problems. the cam is a billet so no shims are needed.

You dont need a chip for that cam, going by Wade... as for the bad economy, sorry I cant help...

You dont need a chip.

In most cases with this cam you will get better fuel consumption, I know I did. Are you sure you put the cam in correctly? Didn't move the timing chain sprocket at all? Didn't bump the MAP hose off?

Worst case, I have seen by putting in an XR ECU into a car with a Wade cam will get you more power and better fuel consumption.

does it feel like the cam gave you more power? cos you havent mentioned that...
is it running rich???
i get about 400km per tank on mine, but thats with a big cam, and my ecu struggles with rich mixtures. but i still make good power and good times...

the cam doesnt really give more power till about 2300 up so below that you will get slightly sluggish performance and also you will get worse fuel economy down low.

if the car is running really rich get it tuned for the cam.

mine is running rich but i managed 600km from a tank on highway with that cam.

Make sure the cam has been installed correctly and check the timing.

If you have to, remove the timing cover and check the cogs are lined up.

I know i had my 1636 fitted by a dodgy mechanic and the timing was way out, it pulled 110 kw@wheels.

Converted to a manual, did the headgasket, reset the timing and it spat out 138 kw@wheels.
