I know there was a thread not long ago about this but intead of hijacking someone elses thread I thought it best to make my own.
My EL has ticked over 200,000 not that long ago and I am wondering what I should be doing? Change oil and filter. Air filter, spark plugs and fuel filter were done last oil change (10,000 ago) New front rotors and machined the rear with new break pads about 20,000 ago and are still good. I am going to get the auto trans serviced. Do wheel bearings need to be packed? What else needs to be checked and changed? Its going to the mechanics for the Auto Trans service so what should I ask them to do? |

Id just get them to check the car over.
You have done the main things. Just dont go spending money when you dont need to just because the car has 200,000 kays. 200,000 kays is nothing for a Falcon.

If you don't know the 5 year history of the car you'r better off just telling them you want a full mechanical and safty check with a written report, then work it out from that

When were the shocks last changed. Generally they start to go off at about 80,000kms. Thing is they go off so slowly that you can't pick that they are getting worn. Untill you hop in car with new shocks and say "oh crap my car wanders all over the joint compared to this thing".

80,000??
thats abit early me thinks?? surely it depends on how the car has been treated, my car has had standard shocks since new, the car has 180k on it and 80k of those had superlows in, after going to pedders to get sports ryda gas shocks, the bloke there advised me their still in too good condition to be replaced and to wait until they start leaking. definitely worth checking, just go to pedders not a mechanic, they really do give honest advice.

Wanted 750 for a cat back exhaust (lukey off the shelf) I know my shocks are done. What are the yellow shocks off ebay like? 110 for gabriel sounded a bit rich when im not planning on keeping the car for longer than 3 months. |

I recommend fuel pump as well. I think it's a good idea to change them every 100,000kms. They are only about $80 so not that expensive.

hello people!
my au falcy has a bad habit and it is when i get up to around 100 klm's p/h on the freeway my frond end starts to shudder and the car starts to want to wander all over the road. my car has done app/160,000klm's and i dont know what the previous owner has done to the vehicle. is this normal behaviour for a vehicle to do this or should i be looking at getting some aftermarket suspension work done ! hello 93 eb and mitchyy!! pete. |

I this shuddering when you are on or off the brakes?
Could be a combination of things really. Most likely something may be bent in your front end. |

Most likely something may be bent in your front end. hello xcabbi! how ya going ! yeah! im on the freeway getting up to about 100klm's ph then i get the annoying shuddder coming through the steering wheel and then she starts gently going left and right. if i back off to about 90 klm's ph the problem goes away ( so yeah! no brakes involved). i may take the girl to 1 of those" REPUTABLE" suspension joints for a check up i think. maybe dont go over 90klm's ph and i'll be ok. |

If its the steering wheel vibrating like a bastard, it could be that the front wheels need to be rebalanced, pulling to one side would be wheel alignment
