I have a 2001 AU 6 cyl ute engine cuts out intermittently usually after driving for 15 to 20 minutes. It takes 4 or 5 goes before it starts again but then it often cuts out again a few kilometres further along.

This car has done 180K and been fastidiously maintained since new. Since this problem started however the following have been done.

The fuel tank is clean.
The fuel filter is new.
The fuel pump has been replaced.
The injectors have been tested OK.
The leads and coil have been replaced.
The spark plugs have been replaced.
No indication of a fault on OBD check.

"Someone" suggested that it could be a worn/loose igniton switch barrel due to the previous owner hanging a large amount of keys from his ignition key. I don't know if that's a possible problem with Falcons although I have come across that on a BMW before.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It could even be a relay or the fuel pressure reg. The Ignition switch turns on Fuel and Spark. A 1st step would be connect a buzzer to the Fuel then Spark side and see which it is. It will annoy you, but when the engine stops the Buzzer will let you know if you have lost power.

When I first read it, I was thinking "If the engine stops of course I'll know that I've lost (engine) power." But after reading what you wrote again I believe that you are saying to connect a buzzer to fuel OR spark, i.e. one at a time, therefore checking each seperately to find out which one loses power.

It could be either or both. Rather than throwing parts at it, better to work out what it is. There is always a chance of fitting a faulty new part. There should be a relay which could also do it. For a few Dollars I would swap it next.
