Gday guys,
I wont beat around the bush, what I know about cars you could write on a g banger. However I am interested in giving my car a bit more grunt. I've got a 2001 falcon au2 xr6. It sounds ok and goes alright but what are some of the basic mods I can do to give it a bit more power and grunt. Any ideas will be very much appreciated!! Cheers in advance guys.. |

Start with a 2.5inch cat back exhaust, if you dont already have one ($300)
Chuck in a k&n panel filter ($100) Extractors and a high flow cat (around $600) If you have any more money to throw around get a flash tuner. Theyre the biggest bang for buck mods and if you already have a cat back, extractors and cat will yeild you the biggest power and torque boost.

Save your money on the KnN filter, that $100 can be better spent elsewhere, to start with at least.

Mate I wouldn't have a clue. I just turned 18, got my license, went to the casino, had a GOOD win, enough for this car, went out and bought it the next day. I thought the car looked fkn nice as thats really why I got it lets be honest. It goes well has a bit of grunt but I want it to sound a bit tougher. Like I said before, I know F all about cars mate. I only know what VCT is cos I googled it..if my car has it its news to me..

Its kind of funny, my old mans a car nut, his got 2 beauty's. a 67 xr gt absolutely mint and a 68 mustang. I'd ask him for some help but his dirty on me for being a dikhead and going out and getting the first thing i saw without asking him first so his being a stubborn pr1ck and leaving it all in my hands which isnt in the cars best interest or mine really..

Post a pick of the engine bay and someone will be able to tell you if its VCT or not.
If its non-vct id also be looking at a cam regrind of some sort from Wade etc as well as the above mentioned mods, headers, catback etc. That will give you a bit more go. I dont know much about AU's to be honest, so i cant say if theres any good cam grinds out there for the VCT engines. |

what ever grind cam you decide to choose, its recommended with the AU's you get some sort of piggy back computer or flash tuner to run it with. VCT especially. I know Jim Mock Motorsport do a grind for VCT's. But they also use a Unichip or something to tune it correctly with.
A flash tuner by SCT is an excellent tuning tool to have to customize and utilize your cars current configuration. Depending on your tuner, you can optimize your ecu settings for many different tunes varying from outright economy to all out performance.

Nice looking bit of gear, you'd ruin it adding the scoop IMO... I'd just add the rest of the ticky kit, and not change (maybe remove) the rear spoiler.
Extractors + exhaust, then a cam of some description, depends on how you want the car to drive. Is it manual or a slushbox? |

hey guys, just wondering what the best mods I could do to my car... ... ... I'm running a VCT engine with 3.5" lukey sports system... I want to make her have more grunt, and also wondering how or where to go to change my gearbox over from a 4 speed auto toa a 6 speed manual...
