Ive got a 2 1/2" performance exhaust, wondering if i can get this and then a new cat later on.

I don't see why not... I am not an expert though. You should upgrade your cat for better flow anyhow. I just got Pacemaker 4490 Headers, 2 1/2" High flow cat and 2 1/2" Mandrel Sports Exhaust system on my 2003 BA for $1200.. Extractors on there own are approx $550 fitted.
