I own a 2003 Acid Rush (Goldish) BA XT. I was wondering, what are some good and cheap mods to put on the car. Spoilers are nearly impossible to find in the colour and model (Unless I'm looking in the wrong area) and I just need something that increases the acceleration and performance.
My car varies in performance all the time, sometimes it brings out a nice, low sound and produces good performance/acceleration. Other days it sounds terrible, and isn't as good.(F*&%ed if I know why that happens)

I don't know much about cars, but I've been looking at extractors, or something that is cheap but decent.

Any ideas?

Basic mods for falcons to get you started.
Pacemaker headers 4480 (give great torque for low rpm)
Cold Air Intake - Try and source a Typhoon Lower Air Snorkel (ebay, wreckers or ford).
Underdrive Pulleys (tuffcarparts.com sells them for around the $280 mark, they're good for 10-15hp)
And if you want to get the most out of the intake and extractors, get a custom dyno tune :)

I’ve been looking at the pacemaker. I was looking at the 4490 but whatever is cheaper. You can feel the difference with the header?

Cool Air Intake, the typhoon one, even from wreckers are expensive?

Underdrive pulley, never heard of them hahahaha

The only thing I know anything about is the Dyno Tune hahahahaha

How much, would all this cost you think? Give or take a few?

Extractors, $400 (if you go a full system through to the tips you will look at $1100-1200 with fitting).
Air Intake - Anywhere from $50-$400.
Underdrives $280-$350
Dyno Tune - $1200-$1500 (depends on who you go too)

So yeah, a few grand. But then, if you get 2nd hand parts that will cut the price down a fair bit. I'm still yet to get a tune, but the xt moves quite quickly for what she's got.

Full system? Is it needed to get performance increase?

also, since you’ve got an XT… When you first got it, did you notice the change in noise, and performance each day? Like some days it sounded nice, others, not so good… same with how it performed?

I won’t get a tune for a while, but the Extractor I’ll look into. And the Air Intake

What Air intake and underdrives you get? (If you got it) Same car, might as well just similar it out.

I'm learning about car's slowly, but it's f**k difficult, I'm new to it all hahahaha

Full exhaust system includes new cat, tips and mufflers. you can use your old cat etc, but you won't get the most out of the extractors until the system flows properly.

performance wise when I first got the car. I didn't drive fast at all, so I can't really tell you that. But since getting the the exhaust upgraded, it's loud and has better throttle response. plus a little bit better fuel usage (only like an extra 30km to the tank haha)

Underdrives - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UNDERDRIVE-K ... 53e8764bbd
^ not badly priced, I paid $310 for mine. You will need to take these to a mechanic to get them installed, unless you have the tool to remove the harmonic balancer.

My air intake a SS Inductions Growler. It's $450ish. A typhoon snorkel and k&n pod filter will be cheaper and give the same amount of air flow.

If you look at my build thread (in my sig), I have a couple of youtube videos of the exhaust sound and my engine bay.

Just had a look at it all, good job. My car sounds like that on a good day(Showing the extractor and intake), but 98% of the time it's whiny and annoying. I’ll get an extractor and intake to start off with. That’ll do for a while, then after a bit, get an underdrive. The Dyno Tune can wait. Hahahaha

I’m not that well in money, in this f**k economic time, finding a job SUCKS

but, I'll figure something out hahahaha... My engine has dropped performance wise over the years of use, throughout an old NSW rent a car company.

I was looking into getting a V8 and debadging it. but I heard there wasn't much difference and it just ate the fuel up faster.

But yeah, Extractor's and Air Intake is what I'm looking at.

Anyone know where I can find a 4480 around Australia? They seem to be difficult to find. hahahaha

Check Ebay. 4480, 90 or 99's. All pretty much the same. some just give a little bit more torque, while others allow better breathing in the higher rpm (useless unless you're going to 6000rpm all the time...)

yeah, I need something that turns my Frankenstein into a frankenfine.

The strange thing about this car, is it's got the standard Diff. But it can on occasion out accelerate same model and year Xr6. Occasionally, most of the time it can't... It's so unstable, but I guess that's just age... .Unless something maybe wrong with it.
