first of all, you're a d**k.

second, what the hell do rims have to do with getting performance out of an engine?

third, get a big carby, a complete exhaust system, a heavy duty clutch, and drive it into a ditch. if you survive (which I'm hoping not) you should buy an older cortina and treat it like you would your boyfriend.

fourth, you're a d**k.

or not.

you can't do much to ford engines without going overboard with your freaking pocket splurging. just do 2.5" exhaust, bigger carby (like either a weber 45DCOE or a Holley 350), advance the timing to about 12°BTDC - nice easy timing, headers/extractors (same diff), superchar.. no, clutch, yeah whatever.

How about you find out where the timing is set first, they are generally setup in the 12-15* BTDC range standard

then go 20 then. f**k. I'm only used to timing 4 cylinder engines.

easier to do up. thats why I said do an older one.

You cant just add timing like that, if you do, it is likely that you will experience major detonation, the best mods would be a re-jetted carby, or a new carby jetted to suit, Extractors, a 2.25" Exhaust, get an aftermarket cam if you can find one, and it would probably be in your best interests to beef up the bottom end if you plan on revving the car hard

Option 1
find a wrecked XF. (carby) either pull the motor out.. (swap sump and pickup) including the 2 main bolts off the cortina block that the pickup bolts to..
and drop that in your corty.

Option 2 (cheeper)

Take the head off a late EFI XF Falcon (E2 stamped on the head) and grab a carby manifold with weber off a Carby XF and put that on your corty.

those will give u much better performance over your iron head with the stromberg.

if u want to go a T5 instead of auto... grab a T5 bellhousing out of a Series 2 XF. and then you can adapt a T5 from XF -> EL and it'll bolt in. but you have to cut the floorpan out as the falcon shifter fits further back..

here is some pix when i did the conversion.

i think u'r the d**k, matty had a legitimate question for which u didnt know the answer to but still felt the need to put your two bits worth in. why bother commenting at all if u have nothing to say?

to the original question, as the others said an E2 head with a weber and extractors will be a definite improvemant on std. as for gearbox, diff and tyre sizes, what do u plan on doing with the car?

ok what i did with my TE , i used a TD cast iron head motor - turffed the head and fitted a XF "C2" head just like what P100ute said and use the carbi / weber off the same XF - then get a electronic dizzy from a XE - convert it to manuel and then fit it up with a 4cyl model complete diff housing ( for the higher gears ) , once you have done that you will find it to be really toe'y Also while the diff is out box in the lower and upper control arms and reinforce the upper control arm mounts on the body . timing wise i would set it up to about 17-19 .

The next step I'd recommend is a cam change.

Crow do a 204/214 duration cam for the crossflow motor that is a torque monster.

I used this cam in a cast iron crossflow and also in a few alloy heads. Excellent result every time.

Have sold more than a few of these over the years and never had a complaint.

Once upon a time I bought an XE with 3.3, auto and 2.92 diff.

I fitted a BW four speed, 4.1 with 9.6:1 comp, Genie headers, 2.25" exhaust, the Crow cam and kept the diff gears. It was one of the better cars I've owned. More grunt than an ex-wife and 20 mpg as well.

i agree with all that said go alloy head, carby and manifold, and exhaust, there were 4 guys around here a few years ago, that all had 6 cyl corty's running standard engines, with those 3 mods, all 4 speeds, and every one of them ran low 13's without losing reliability or economy. back in the day they were all untouchable on the street which ain't bad for a stock engine.

yeah what the f**k mate? you've made a whole of 15 posts and that's all you have to say?

moving on.

i have sent an apology to the guy explaining that in my absence, a mate of mine was using my account, apparently pissing everyone off. so i was blocked and had everyhting sorted.

so once again my apologioes to anyone who have had to put up with personal insults from my mate, he's been sorted.
