hey i'm considering my options here in bang for buck horsepower and strength with reliability, and while i understand it may be cheaper to rebuild and turbo the good ol 4l, i want the strength that a stock 2j has i know that i'd need a supra sump, but i havent been able to find out any info because as far as i know no ones done it before, if anyone knows of any 2j's in el or has helped a mate do it would you please be able to send some tips my way and your thoughts on the idea to,
cheers guys

thats a awsome conversion dude but a nice 1JZ has plenty of go

I'll measure up my broz 1JZ and then measure up my EF then ill take some pictures and show the difference in size and where the sump is on both engines so u have an idea.

From what i remember both the engine mount and sump are setup very much alike a EF 6cyl.

This would be a good conversion for sure. There's a VS ute kicking around down here with one in and it hammers.

Also i was just thinking that maybe the standard twin turbo setup may sit very close to the strut tower and also close to the brake booster and cylinder. I can check this out tomorrow for you anyway.

That can be solved with a high mount single turbo

A JZ into a ford is piss easy, i have seen this before. The factory turb setup is miles awaqy from the strut tower, and generally all fits in good. There is 3 different sump setups, but you seem to have that covered. If you can do the work yourself you'll save a packet and have a car full of potential.

About the only advantage in fitting this over a ford 351 is an alloy block stock and better heads. As for against a 2j, stock they are strong as and can handle heaps more boost than stock level.

puting a ricer engine in a ford is just silly and should be illegal

Well mate, when a JZ engine will make around 900hp on a stock bottom end, i dont think there is nothing ricey about that, maybe you dont quite get the term "rice" ???

Now compare the purchase price of a 2JZ bottom end to what you'd spend getting a 4L to do the same?

JZ's are bulletproof mate, not rice at all.

if you think that you can just bolt a std import engine and get 900hp you have been watching to much fast and furious.

Wow aren't we a closed eyed douche?

Firstly, i dont watch fast and furious, its for nobs like you. Now, please show me where i said you can bolt one in and get 900hp?? Oh thats right, i didn't even say that. I said the standard bottom ends are capable of producing that, and if it needs to be said that other external parts are required, then you sir are rather simple.

A little light reading for you
http://www.suprastore.com/90onsten.html
Good info here too
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=91359&page=2&pp=25

Fitting one doesn't make you a ricer, that is plain stupid. If the OP drove a car with a veilside (read fugly s**t) bodykit etc, with fully h3c7ik neons, vynils, and fully massive stereo on his lap, then i'd agree with your lame opinion, but it appears he may not do that.

Now, as much as i am a fan of the 4L motor of ford, i'd like to see one acheive the same results, you'll be pulling engine parts out of the ceiling before you get there.

Also, you could buy probably about 2 and a half JZ's for the same money as a typhoon motor.

So thats my rant, the OP asked questions, and here is some usefull info for anyone who cares to actually do research, perhaps you should too?

The thing is though you say that such people may aswell buy a supra, but maybe they dont want a squishy ugly car. This is my opinion and could be others, i love the motor, but hate the car.

Everyone does have there opinion though, its only fair to express it as we have done.

Cheers.

2jz FTW, the only thing is wiring, do it. I know of a 2j VN, why not a Falcon?
