What sort of dollars could i get for a tired old falcon 2v engine. The bottom end is a little rattly but the top end is very healthy.

yeah, prices of $1000 just for the head alone (if its in good cond) is not unheard of... the 2v motors are capable of 300+ hp
the 2v's in their time were one of the best motors around, and probably still are, a car with a well built 2v will leave 99% of members here cars for dead. There werent too many 2v's made because they used to outperform the v8's so ford dropped them to boost v8 sales. |

Throw it out? LOL
I sold a 2V head at a swap meet about 15 years ago for $250 and had 3 guys fighting over it. |

Thanks for the useful feedback. I know that they are a very capable unit and would smoke any X-flow motor when set-up. I have been out of the scene for a while and have lost track of part values. It belongs to a mate of mine who has it planted in a CJ6 jeep. He wants to fit a later model fuel injected engine to improve the reliability for bush bashing. The 350 holley fitted to it is not real good for serious hillclimbing (runs out of fuel real quick). On the straight and narrow it will almost wheelstand the jeep at full noise. I am looking for some interest in maybe swapping it for maybe a complete and running engine with computer around 90 model.

a quick and easy solution would be use a holley truck avanger carby, or modify the 350 to work at extreme angles. A carb'd engine will be a lot more efficient that EFI for 4wd'ing, and will allow you to practically sink the vehicle without worrying about frying ecu's etc as toy would with EFI.

i agree and disagree at the same time about the EFI v CARBY for 4WD'ing. as someone who does alot of 4wd'ing i would lean more for the EFI then for a carby. even more so in a retrofit situation. careful placement of the ECU is all thats needed to bring the water problems to the same point as if a carby were fitted. i know a few comp trucks with EFI engine have the ecu mounted in an overhead glove box. EFI will go to stupid angles, both inclines and side angles. EFI will out perform the truck avengers or a modified holley on that regard. EFI is also far more tractable then most carbs. and that is the biggest plus side to it. |

same thing that happens to a points dizzy or an elec dizzy fitted to a carby engine. as with all 4x4s you need to keep water out of the places it can cause problems. hit enough water and you have to stop EFI carby or deisel doesn't matter |
