Cheers, well, i think i'll leave the cams for a little later.

Currently on the exhaust side i am looking at a 2.5" mandrel bent mercury back end, and pacemaker PC4480(i think that's the right number) headers.

With the intake, well i'm still looking at that, but i think i'm going to go a K&N block filter + XR snorkel, given that these are the correct parts, right?

Any objections/suggestions?

I've got pretty much the same vehicle and am lookin at similar mods. Got myself a KnM Panel last week and s**t if that didn't make a nice difference in acceleration. Tried getting the EL GT Snorkel as well, but the slappa's at Tilford gave me a stock part instead, so gotta get that one rectified. Lookin at a 2 1/2" Lukey system after next pay. After some power/torque gain without too much loudness. Damned cops down here can take ya car off you just for sounding too loud! :x

Awesome post Vox, certainly steered me in the right direction, and got me motivated to start modding. Eternally greatful

can you change the cam's in the inline6's with the engine in the car? don't have to remove the head or anything?

yes most people do (change the cams with the motor in the car), the rpd forum has a guide on how to do so.

cam is abovethe head so its easy to do but shimming the thing up can be tricky.

Hi guys... i know this might seem as a bit of a redundant question but if i was to put in a set of XR6T injectors into my BA XT would i expect any improvement... or a tenth of a poofteenth difference. i have a CAI, Redback Extractors and a Lukey Exhaust. which made a little difference but just curious if it was a waste of time or not

Waste of time. If the injectors are any bigger overfueling the car will not give you any improvements. And as the fords run rich as it is, you'll probably see a decrease in fuel consumption and power.

Cheers

yeah, unless you're car is leaning out, then there really is no advantage. And if it is leaning out you'll need to get bigger injectors and tuned. its not as simple as just replacing them.

Cheers

Hey Guys,

I just got my hands on my dad's XR6 ED with a 5 speed manual and a 3.45diff. I was thinking about doing basic mod's to increase power and torque at the engine by about 15 - 20%. The exhaust in the car is stock, but is a dual 2" after the cat to the rear muffler. Just wondering if I should get extractors, cat and rear muffler, and leave middle of exhaust standard?

From what i've read the exhaust is the first thing to be done, so i was going to do that with an air up grades, ie. K&N air filter, and larger snorkel is an AU or an XH better for my type of car.

Would these mod's get me any where near the 15 - 20% increase i'm looking for, even with a full exhaust system.

I've also hear that Di Filippo make great exhaust but are these mainly for other engine, should i stick with Mandrel Bent.
My budget could probly stretch to $2,500. I'm only talk engine power.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

for $2,500 you can get a great start on ballsin up your motor. Go for a decent cam (RPD or something) with 2 1/2" Lukey exhaust(all the way) and some pacemaker extractors. You should have plenty of change after that to try some other mods. The main e-series goodies you already have ie. 5 speed and LSD so you have a great base to work on.

a wade cam is only 122 change over(any grind) or go the other site sponsor RPD, pick a grind suited to what you want.

a good clutch ~$400+++

extractors ~$400+

high flow cat, ~150>300

perhaps an EL/AU motor?

could fit all that into your buget if you can do the work.

Yeah probably, won't change the engine. It's already got a better clutch in it then the standard one.

But full exhaust idea is the way to go u guys now confirmed that so thats great.

What about the air system?

stock air intake is fine, unless you're going all out with the engine. With the above mods, you're intake would be fine.

Cheers

Hey guys,

I've got the JMM Dev 5 upgrade in my EL XR6, with JMM headers & zorst, and the JMM ultra-intake ...which is essentially an SS Inductions snorkel going the the standard airbox fitted with a K&N filter, then 3" mandrel bend pipe to the TB.

My question is ...WOULD I BENEFIT FROM A CUSTOM TWIN THROTTLE BODY SET-UP?

It's just that we have a couple of cars here (SVO XR6 to name one) that have a custom twin throttle body set-up ...and everyone seems to rave about how much difference they make in power etc.

How does a twin throttle body improve performance? More importantly ...is it a worthwhile mod option for my car, or am I just going to waste my money for little or no gain?

Forgot to mention, I'm soon going to be shelling out for the BPT / SCT custom flash & dyno tune (Eliminator chip) ...so if the twin throttle body IS worthwhile, should I hold off on the tune until the twin TB is fitted?

Any advice / opinions would be much appreciated!

Cheers.

Greetings boys and girls - current mods are as follows -

Crow EA-ED Wild Performance Cam (222825)
EA-EF Vernier adjustable timing set (CS6EA-VS)
Falcon XR6 valve springs (7739-6)
2 1/2 inch Pacemaker extractors, 2 1/2 inch high flow redback cat & mufflers (PH4499, STR110, 2T3870TP)
now, supplied and fitted by Herrod Automotive -
Oil pressure switch,
Water Pump,
Distributor MPEFI (F005D00002)
Coil (9220061710)
new sump gasket set,
6 Cyl head Gasket kit (EA6584BK1T)
New timing case,
New oil pump,
NGK plugs (BRE527Y-11)
Pistons/Pins
Crankshaft bearings,
Lifters,
Con rod bearings,
ported & polished Cyl Head,
VRS gasket set,
Unichip computer,
Fuel pump,
new 91LE auto & torque convertor,
DBA slotted rotors

As you can tell, a lot of what I've done was for "freshening up" the engine. Had already done about 250k kms when I started.
Currently only making 130kw at the wheels.
I'm going to have a look through the forums, try and figure out whether a manual upgrade is worth the trouble, or just go with a shift kit and leave it at that, and try to figure out what gear ratio to go with when I switch the single spinner out for an LSD.

Currently trying to decide whether to keep playing with this engine, or whether to try and find an XR6T engine and attempt a swap.

*edit* Left out the latest - suspension -
Rear - Pedders Sports Rider coil springs,
Front - Pedders Extreme X Cpoil overs, and Big Bore shocks (GSR9180)
