???? I don't think I ever addressed 3" as being too big for your car. You are one of the few who definately should be running 3".

some cars sound great with a 3" system dont get me wrong, but others just sound like a big wet f@rt. id only ever use a 3"system personally if i was going forced induction, but that just my personal preference. it even states in performance 101 documents that sometimes haveing an exhaust that it much larger then the intake delivery can produce can actually reverse the power gains and you can start to lose power, however an intake that is too large for the exhaust flow can also do the same, nobody will ever win the exhaust and intake size battle for better power, alot of it is just getting it done and seeing what happens.

Performance 101 is just that, entry level stuff to keep the uninformed mostly in a fool proof direction.. The engine will tell you what it wants. ONE WAY to find out what it is the 'suck it and see' method, where you just change stuff and pray. Quote: alot of it is just getting it done and seeing what happens <------- this is the suck it and see method. Which for the most part is what people do. There is nothing wrong with doing that way. It can become expensive and you will in the end find what your engine wants if you have money to go that. Most times though, it results in people thinking that because it didn't work them it will never work for anyone. The other way is to listen to what your engine is telling you. Most people here wouldn't know how to do that. Getting back to the OP, They listened to what the engine wanted and decided it needed more exhaust. They will put it back on the dyno and fine tune it to make use of the new system and it will be proven to work or not. |

Just a FYI for the thread
There is no off the shelf Single 3" System for the EA to EL Ford 6cyl's Although there are 3 brands that I have found that do Single 3" Systems for the EA to EL V8's Some have posted Redback do one as well but can't find it They are Manta, Humex and Rage - you just have to cut off the front twin pipe section and replace it with a 3" single pipe - funnily enough they are all around the same price of $520 to $550 Manta actually have a Twin 2.5" system for the EA to EL V8's so you could go that way but that costs about $1,000 I had this set up since 2008 - just going to have a 3" system now instead of 2.5" system 3" Flange on Pacemaker 4480's HPC Coated Pacemaker 4480's
