Now before you guys start throwing links of previous Pod and Airbox threads at me, let me tell you that I have read them all and nothing covers anything similar to the setup I have atm.
ATM, I have a Di Fil 3" Stainless steel mandrel bent intake pipe with a 3.5" Inverted Pod on the end. It sucks heaps of air but currently I dont have any way of preventing it from sucking in hot air from the engine bay. I need some sort of way to box this in or stop it from taking in hot air WHILE still allowing it to breathe to its full potential. Im totally open to suggestions but dont really want to put a scope in just yet. I really really dont like it sucking in hot air atm as Im sure all that hot air is just cancelling out the point of having a 3" intake with a 3.5" pod. Thx boys.

thought of installing it into a standard box?? you can add the Tickford snorkel and plumb an extra cold air intake from behind the front bumper into the bottom of the standard air box....
great for keeping heat out.. and extra cold air pick up great for ambient air intake temps... |

wasnt very realistic in the winter but in the heat this setup was my best way to get cold air in
But then i cut my scoops open for a more practical setup.

haha, that is one of the most ridiculous pod setups ive ever seen! probably takes second spot to the pod out of a whole in the bonnet!
but im gad you cam up with a better idea now! sadist: why cant you use the standard box still? its plenty big enough to house a pod, and there are plenty of ways to feed air into it if you use your imagination, top, bottom, front, or either side!

Also, when in summer, the air temp 100mm off the road wouldn't be much different to under bonnet temp. Wait for a hot day, about 32 or more, and hold your face 100mm off the road in the sun, see how hot it is. This is Australia, not northern Europe, or Japan, eh?

a mate of myne with an ef has his pod on sitting behind where the fairlanes had those front bar lights.
oviously its on the other side than the picture. his was sucking in hot air too until he did this

The 1st pic of the pod hanging down, was fine, yes i understand in 30+ degree days the heat it would bring up would be bad, but when cruising on highway, fuel econ/power was great.
the car was raised then, so it was clear of all speed humps, but if i copped a plastic bag on the road id be screwed, hence why it wasnt a realistic setup.
