The best platform would be a BA/BF XR6T. Handles well, modern interior and excellent performance potential. Taking into account depreciation and all, this will work out to be far more economical than throwing money at boosting an XF - especially if you're not choosing any one model for looks or features.

I remember asking a long time ago about using e series rods with au pistons to effectively decompress for forced induction, but never really got a 100% answer. I recall the "quench" issue popped up, and after that kinda lost interest. Has to do with the cooling of the cylinder, and if the gap between piston and head is too large you run hot and detonate. probably better off running dished pistons. the stock AU can handle 9 psi all day, probably a bit more with a really good tune, and good nick motor, less with a worn item. so I think the rods may be your big issue at 12-15, so maybe look at the e series engines for the shorter/stronger rods. thing is if you want a reliable gasket you use the au mls gasket, which brings e series compression up a taaaaad.

If theres something I should know about the au block i would really like to know it. pretty simple.

Its all about the poke for me in this particular car, just that initial 0 - 160 or so to get that feeling you need to be able make it through the day I also enjoy having the "older car" to see the drop jaw effect when you pass someone in there 5.0 litre with a big "cam, holley, and exhaust" lol I actually am eyeing up the EL serios, im thinking somthing with around 100 - 140 ish k on the clock, auto with a/c so i can launch and drift while having a cool breeze on my face. |

If it is poke you want, consider an EA or EB as they are the lightest of the E series by a good 100kg or so.

eb2 auto 6 cyl 1467kg kerb weight
au2 auto 6 cyl 1505kg kerb weight 38 kilo's isnt exactly a lot, considering the better ride and quality of the later. definately not 100kg. EL was slightly heavier than AU though.
