Hi,

Dad has an EL Ghia tickford I6, Automatic, extractors, 2.5 inch exhaust, k&N Filter, 3.45 diff ratio. beautiful Car

I have EL Fairmont 5.0, Automatic, extractors, 2.5 inch single exhaust, k&N, 3.45 diff ratio. (I had it changed).

Dads always saying the tickford 6 is quicker. Im always saying the 5.0 should have it for breakfast.

It cant be any fairer, both almost identical car, same mods, both auto, both 3.45 diff gears. Which car will win at wsid dragway? we are gonna take them both down. 4.0 Vs 5.0

Truth be known, the 5.0 absolutely charges off the mark, but the tickford 6 seems to have a wider power band whereas the 5.0 has more power down low but doesnt really keep pulling to the redline.

Any one wanna bet on a win for i6 or the V8??

ticky six all the way......

the ticky six xrs ate their v8 brothers at the time so why should be any different now.....

neither cars are lightweights. ghia probably heavier than the fairmont- maybe..

who knows... cut the talk and do it already..

private road of course, if no drag track around..

Will be a close run I reckon.... I think the 6 will nose ahead though because Tickford actually developed them a bit more than they did with the 8's. plus 2.5" on the 6 will open it up, 2.5" single on the 8 I think could choke it a little. Haha it's too hard to call, but I'm hoping for the 6 to give the 8 a hiding, just to stick it up all the V8-or-die boys out there

now now low ghia... how about you read the post - he said he's going to western sydney :P

the 6 will win, all the 8 has going for it is the torque

If there was an EB V8 involved, it would win.

Why not make it more interesting and hook up a caravan behind each car?

i reckon the 6 will give it a hiding off the line and the 8 might slowly catch it, but i think you will stop before it does

the 6 will get it off the line, but the 8 will slowly bring it in, it will prob be neck and neck by the end of the quarter.

The 8's just had a bit too much weight and plenty of torque.

But yes it all depends on how each engine is tuned and howmany klms are on them both and whether one engine is in better shape than the other. The 8 should be in better shape, as they are bullit proof!

the ticky sixes had better gearing than the eights. notice the eight in question is now running the same diff as the 6, not the 3.23. power outputs were 164kw v 165kw; torque was 366nm v 388nm. now that the gearing is evened up and the weight is not an issue i think the 8 should win on paper.

the difference between them was never enough to be called a thrashing and it was only ever due to gearing and a little less weight.
