i want to put a new full exhaust sytem, cam and air intake on my ba fairmont. I am lookin for a nice deep note from the exhaust and low down torque more so than high-end power. also want the lumpy idle. any suggestions on who to go through and wat i would need? also any experiences with these mods on power and fuel usage would b appreciated.

I don't think I've heard a na ba/f with a lumpy idle. Not sure if you can do it with the twin cam.

look for headers with longer and narrower primaries (although no so narrow such that they overly choke it up top - doubtful with off the shelf items). I think pacemakers use 41mm primaries; I definately wouldn't go any bigger than this when looking for down low torque.

Also a lumpy idle is generally reminiscent of cams with big lift and longer duration, more suited to mid to high revs. If you are looking for low down torque then generally the idle wouldn't be as lumpy as what I assume you're looking for.

I'm not sure of what cams are offered for the DOHC head, but I was pretty sure I have seen people getting good results from getting a tune on the DOHC engines without touching cams.
