Hey guys,

I have a problem with it hesitating under 2000RPM, and when i change gears feels like its going to stall, it only does it when i take off from lights or if i back off the throttle and reopen it again it kinda splutters then goes. Also its lost a whole heaps of power, it kinda feels like its surging but its not consistent, it does it 70% of the time and the rest of the time its fine. Ive had recommendations that its dirty injectors or a TPS switch has gone wacko is there a way to test the TPS? Also has anybody else had this problem?

cheers

Chris

PS it was working fine before, but i thought id mention it is running a 3.9 ECU, map sensor and fuel press reg/injectors.

its a auto ecu, but it was running fine all of a sudden lost alot of power and splutters down low, today it seemed to be getting worse on the way to work, stalled twice and has started back firing a bit aswell. Ive changed fuel filter (its only a month old), fuel press reg, map, leads, plugs, checked all vacum hoses. Only things i havnt had a look at yet are timing, tps and isc (and last resort if the dizzy is stuffed)

cheers

chris

Disco: I have a similar problem with a manual ECU, is there something that goes wrong with them? Noticed the problem as soon as I did the Exhaust, pacemaker headers and hi-flow cat.

Your not loosing any coolant are you, I had this EXACT problem. very annoying, very inconsistent. turned out there was a split in the head gasket on inlet side pissing out water onto dizzy, lucky for me though there was no water in oil and replaced ASAP

no loss of coolant, no busted heater hose or anything no moistureon the dizzy, UPDATE took it for a strap this morning and revved the bloody ring out of it, and now i have my power back, although half throttle in first gear feels a bit doughy if i snap it all the way open its got full power again, so maybe the tps is buggered? only other thing i can put it down to is a blocked cat convertor? (although mine ishollow but might have missed a chunk)

regards

chris

got the same prob as well on my ef fairmont, i had it once before i put the manual in it, havent had the prob since and its the same as before, last time it was the leads one of them had a low resistance, but at ford it showed as a coil pack fault, its at the panel beater at the moment when i get it back next week ill slap some new leads in it, if not ill try plugs, if not ill go to ford.

but def check the basic stuff first, if you havent already
