6 speed column shift? Does that mean a possible return to the mighty falcon 6 seater taxi? (albeit with LPG injection)

Correct me if i'm wrong.. There is only one 6spd auto in the ford range? The ZF?

In the Ford OZ range there is only one, the ZF.
But Ford have their own built/designed 6 speed auto in the US that we will never see. |

Stick some 3.45's behind it (like I have) and it truly frys. The six ratios become Fry, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th.

arm79 wrote: Now that Ford has made the painfully stupid step of making ZFs standard on the FG2s starting in a couple of months Adrian, do you mean you think it's overdue for Ford to make the ZF standard in all Falcons, or instead that some exclusivity of high-series models is diminished by doing so? |

Firstly, I think its kills the exclusivity of having a ZF when its standard in every model.
Plus Ford has just instantly devalued everything prior to the FG2 by a few thousand $$$. What was a $2000 option for nearly 5 years is now free. I know if I ever went looking for an FG, I'd skip straight over those with a 5 speed knowing the 6 speed is readily available for not much more. To me it's more Ford being lazy and potentially pissing off older customers. |

The ZF is lightyears ahead of the GM slushboxes* (and even the manuals - find third anyone?) in refinement, performance, and economy. They need to market the hell out of it. FG s**t all over VE in EVERY regard, but no one knows about it. /rant * speaking to my tuner yesterday (they do Ford and Holden), a VE GTS customer with a bit extra poke, has gone through 4 of the 6 speed autos because the things are so indecisive, that in the time where it can't make up it's mind which gear to choose the incoming torque destroys it.

Haven't holden done that Since the late 90's (VT onwards) with successive models gaining more and more power over the previous model? The bogans still don't complain as they still rush out and trade the old one in for the new one. Another upshot is not that GenIII's are starting to make their way into the housing commissions. Ultra cheap devalued performance. Everyone wins |

Well the AU dual fuel could outrun any of the 165kW commodores so this is going to be very interesting indeed. Should well and truly shut the "Bogan means a great deal to Ostraya" crowd up.

Everyone wins Yes, and remember what happened when Holden released the Gen 3 with more power than the previously optionally expensive blueprinted 5L, that they were still selling and pushing right until the Gen 3 release. Caused them a fair bit of PR problems with their existing customer base, much like Subaru are coping with the WRX now. One of the blokes at work just replaced his Territory with a G6. When I told him of the FG2 upgrades he was more than p****d. He's a true blue Ford fan, but he feels f**k over with this. If he had of waited a month or 2, he could have gotten $3000 with of options for $500. No one mentioned the upgrades to him, and he knows his car is instantly devalued. I also hope Ford have negotiated a much better warranty process with ZF, otherwise they will have a long long list of p****d off customers in the future. |

So I'm wondering why the factory e-gas BF and FG models didn't get the ZF six speed auto, instead only receiving the four and five speed auto respectively.
Too hard to write the no-doubt-considerable programming? |
