Hey guys and gals, Just after some advice on some mods.

What modifications do you think and why should i Invest in for my EFXR6. I have a starting budjet of around $4000 but this is not for any cosmetic stuff or suspension. I have read the other good strings on what and how much, But what you guys done and what results have you had.. i dont want to do something and then find out that there is a better mod out there. What do you guys think of the DEV kits...??

Thanks

auto or manual??

if it's an auto budget your first $1000 on getting and fitting a shiftkit and high stall torque converter. then i'd put the rest to an aftermarket ECU and an alted stage 3 cam, extractors and exhaust system

that will see some very fast times.

it also leaves the option for more work later, like a port job, multi throttle body intake.

Hmmmm first of all its Manual and I was reading on the forum somewhere to turbo a Ef would set you back around 10K plus...!!!

But yeah I was thinking the same thing extractors (pacies) and a 21/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust. And the stage 3 cam sounds like a plan... What do you guys think about the DEV kits though...?

$4000 will get you a full rebuild with balancing, decked, honed, bored, cleaned, shaved, with a ball tearer head and a full rebuild of the bottom end if you plan it right.

Is this a standard price or a round about price....?

The DEV3HL kit is great. I paid a touch over 1K for it and got near enough to a 20rkw gain!

I was pumped.

But yeah, if I had 4K to spend I'd go the turbo route and if I didn't have enough money (not that 4K would be too far off the mark) I'd save. :)

Either way your lucky :)

Hmmm but what about the running gear, wouldnt I need to streangthen the internals..?

I just dont want to invest all this money and then the engine blows.

I would have no car and a huge bill...

Anyways I emailed Snort about the stage 3 kit and I am just waiting a reply.

By the way, the DEV kits are the HEAD only. If you pull apart the enigine yourself and take the block seperately to a builder $4000 SHOULD get you a rebuild with an awesome head if you do it over a few weeks.

also consider turbo system will be going on to your standard internals and head. if your engine is in good nick it should handle it but id recommend checking out internals first.

invest it in the share market or put it in your superannuation fund, it'll be worth a whole lot more than $4000 in a few years time

$4000 will not ever get turbo setup up and running. unless you do every single bit of work your self, including tunning ECU alone is about 1500 to 2000 fitted.

and it wont get you a rebuilt engine and awsome head either.

it might get an awsome head new valves, springs and cam.
pluss the new parts and machine work on the engine. but that about it.
it would just be a pile of parts and a pretty looking block.

a camdepending one where from $190 to $490
new valves (standard) $240
springs to suit cam $280
the port work and machining of head $1200 to $2000
new pistons and bearings $800
gasket set $150
bottom end machining $1000

theres $4000 to $4400 right there befor it gets put together.
thats with cheap parts too.

you could spend up to $480 on valves alone then that again on retainers and llocks to go with them. (you dont use multi groove locks in a hipo engine)

then you look at a set of ARP bolts for the rods, mains and head. resize the rods because you've fitted new bolts.
basic ballancing of the rotating assembly

How fast do you really want go?????????????

if you just want a bit of a lift in power get the head ported some extractors an exhuast, meduim cam and be happy with about 150 to 160rwkw.

if you want full house power keep saving till you have about $10 000 to $13 000 and built a hipo N/A engine or do a meduim turbo setup
