i got pacemaker 4499's fitted the other day to my el and i cant say iv noticed any power differences at all and perhaps even has made it a bit slower. its hard to tell but there is definatley no noticable gains. does this sound normal? i already had a 2.5" catback fitted

I highly doubt it.

before and after time slips will show. if the MPH is higher its making more power.

Going to talk too an exhaust bloke I know and see if he can modify the pacies 4499's with longer secondaries.............The fairmont runs a dream at the moment with the XR6 ecu 6JDA and XR6 fuel 300KPA reg.......... Soon too replace the stock 400CPI cat with a 200 cpi item........

cheers.............

WTF? 4499s make you launch slower? Even if you just plant the throttle from a standstill the stalls about 2k rpm which is well into the zone where these extractors will give you more power. If its a manual and it feels slower stop trying to launch it off idle in 2nd gear.

Well I have just removed the 4499's and my fairmont is alot quicker too 60-70km/hr with the stock header.......

stock EL would make about 105rwkw and i made 127rwkw with full exhaust 2.5" with high flow cat and 4480's, they do make a fair increase. You probably cant tell because the car revs up alot smoother now

The power your talking about is on a dyno high in the rev range.

The car I bought a year ago was an auto EF mont. Fitted 4499s and a catback - noticeable improvement.

WHen I got mine fitted on the AU Xr6 there was a noticable gain, the car didn't sound to great at first but then when it carboned up it sounded great, give it time and let the ecu learn

Learn to launch it with a few revs then! There is no way your car will be slower with 4499s than the stock headers.

I have 4480's......I didn't notice any loss in the bottom end, but did notice big gains in mid to high end. I haven't increased the CR, or fitted a cam. I have however p&p the head.

Ok this morning I reset my ecu and car is much better.
But still sluggish off the line. Maybe I need to practice.

Getting there.
My old car would launch hardest from around 2400rpm but it was a prelude so redlined at 6200.

Looking for this "hot spot" tonight, seemed to launch hardest around 1200-1500.

With a manual, the hardest launch is around 4-4400rpm. It feels smooth, not fast, but watching 60' times at the drags proove it is the fastest.

1500? No wonder you cant get off the line lol. More revs, more clutch slip.
