What is the exhaust like, check to see if any blockages,

If ok return to basics, Spark, Air, Fuel, and also Timing

Best of luck mate

Nah, it's rooted. The best thing you could do is drive it up here to brissie, and I'll give you the $500 for it. Cut your losses and walk away.

Only kidding, sounds like a bargain!
Check the timing first, then make sure the air & fuel filters are OK. Does it miss or break down at 3500, or just run into a wall? Make sure the intake air ducting isnt blocked.
Good luck, and enjoy. 8-)

If the timing check out OK, try advancing it a few degrees and take it for a fang. If it pings, back off and back the timing off again. If it goes ok, try a few more. The balancer may have slipped.

OK mate,

Next options is to check the fuel system,

Fuel pump low rate and pressure

Fuel flow should be approx 1 litre in 30 seconds

Is is CFI or MPFI

Scotty

Thats why I said to check the exhaust,

A Universal cat is available for approx $250, ( Dont Cut them ) as the EPA are going around checking cars at the moment, and its a possible $15000 fine

Also as silly as it sounds check the accelerator gable and make sure it getting full open throttle, as the falcons have problems with the outer cable,

check to see if it has the manual ECU because if its an Auto ECU and doesn't have the resistors they don't rev past 3500RPM
