yes there are others running this sort of combo (although they usually go for something bigger than a 500).

Why would u convert to carby....simplicity???

using the CFI intake - just making an adaptor for the carby (if u need it) ??

yeah and watch as it falls on it's face when you floor it.

it'd be better off with a 450 mech secondary or a 465 if you want vac secondary, if you realy wanted a 4brl carb on it.

but buy them time the engine out flows a 500 you'd get a better result with tripple SU or tripple weber carbs

There are pics of 4.0 with carby (and what to do with the dizzy) in the sticky at the top of the workshop.

Lets face it though, carby is not as good as fuel injection. No point doing this unless you want to race your car in a category that doesnt allow efi.

Why not just go all out a shove a 1050 dominator on it, it'll go even slower - awesome!

is it legal to have a carby on an ea? I thought you couldnt put carbies on injected cars, or are ea's different cause they pretty much had a carby with an injector anyway?

illegal

you arent supposed to make any modifications that change the emissions. ie custom tunes, ecu's are a no go. Putting a carb on would definately alter the emissions.

if carbs had any benefit over efi our cars would have it from factory.

But then again, its on an ea so who gives a s**t.

You can make mods that possibly change the emissions, as long as you can prove that the emissions don't get worse than the specs the car was designed to comply with. Mind you there is a few that could actually improve emissions as well. You can run custom tunes & after market ECU's, if you go thru all the BS to get the emissions tested to make sure your still complying with the reg's the car was originally built to. Costly & time consuming.

The only time i can think of that you would possibly stick a carby on what was an EFI engine is maybe a Gas Research carby, in place of the factory throttle body. Or maybe your doing an engine swap into a XE/XF that had both carby & EFI options.

Cheers
