Hey everyone,
I have a eb series 1 5 speed, anyway clutch has been dodgy for years and I got a new clutch kit of a fella who had got to put it in his car years ago. Anywhoo it's time to replace my clutch, bust open the box and realize it's the 6 bolt one for 4.0 liter. Is it possible to fit the 6 bolt to the 3 bolt flywheel. Thanks |

Yes - by drilling the flywheel for 6 bolts.

If you need a 6 bolt fly wheel let me know i have one i can send you for a reasonable price. I would advise a machine or a serious rub down with scotch brite are a minimum, has Mild surface rust from sitting.

Learn something new everyday.... Thats what happens when you are use to playing with Automatic Falcons.... All the ring gears are the same XD-AU

I have drilled & tapped the EA 3 bolt flywheel to take 3 more bolts on an EA clutch......so, I have a 3 bolt EA clutch with 6 bolts holding it on......and have no probs with it what so ever.
Here's some food for thought.....EA has 3 bolts to attach the pressure plate, so it has to be a fairly ridgid cover to hold it all together with just 3 bolts, so 3 more bolts can only make it better....yes?

True, but wouldn't you go for the later pressure plate/clutchplate for the increased surface area ???

I would have gone to 6 bolt clutch and decent aftermarket light weight flywheel.
They don't cost much these days and you can get them to suit the 6 cylinder pressure plates. When I did mine I had to use a V8 flywheel and clutch and stuff around with the cable adjustment and a shorter clevis to attach the cable, to get it to work with good pedal height. |
