hey guys i was heading to the wreckers on sunday and was thinking of picking up a ebish inlet manifold (as i have an eb falcon i6) and was going to cut off near ends of runners attatching smallish motorbike throttle bodies to it and trumpets off that...with filters on the end of that, i was wondering would the stock ecu cope with such a mod becuase im not looking to buy a $1000ish ecu just for that, just an idea but would make an AWESOME sound and pretty good repsonse/power wen ducted with fresh cool air.....what do you guys think
Thanks Adzi |

6 throttle bodies woul;d be f**k awesome!
best to do it with a ef/el broadbadn manifold ans you can sepaerate the 2 halfs real easy. the ecu umm no ide u would need 1 ISC at least the throttle response would be f**k insane thats for sure and teh tourque u would pick up mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure what tb to use a modern day m/bike with fuel injection would be good but they may be too small. then again bikes rev to 2-3 times a falcon... DO IT!

I made a quad throttle setup for a 2lt 4 I had a few years ago... I hand made the manifold and used 40mm Hyundi TBs. I used it with a turbo so it was hard to set up and I ended up selling the car... still have the manifold somewhere, doorstop i think...
Have a go, its definatly worth doing but it wont be simple to do. A guy did it on an XD running Wolf ecu and 45mm TBs, he got 180odd wkw I think... its in Zoom mag a few years back |

How about using weber style throttle bodies such as speed technology or injection perfection. of the shelf may be easier to set up with more linkages and things available

Yeah, they would be the way to go... around 1500 just for the TBs though, and manifold still needs to be custom.
From what he told me, waggin is planning on a turbo so 6 TBs are out for him |

Its' performance is still designing it apparently *shrug*.
I'm not fussed now, as it woudl go to waste if i moved to a boosted configuration anyhow.

I'm not convinced that you'd need an ISC... plenty of ppl kicking around without one connected.
You'd need some sort of pentometer on one of them for the ECU to get a throttle position signal... From what i remember back at high school setting up a mate's GB galant with 4 motor bike carbies, the linkages will be interesting...

If I was to do it I'd use the Injection Perfection TBs... they have heaps of suitable linkage parts and TPS's. I'll try to find the Zoom article... its in a pile somewhere in here:)

yeah sure they may have all the parts and stuff but im intersted in doing it by hand even if it doesnt work gives me sumthing to do. Im not lookin to spend more then 500 on this project so wreckers and ebay it is for me, i was actually planning to cut at the straight part ends of the manifold on the eb then weld sum braces and connect the smaller throttle bodies, then add sum trumpets the end of them and then some filters, the way i was hoping to get them all to open/close at once (this design is only in head stil) was to connect the normal falcon spring and leveler (not sure what its called but its the outside part which dictates how open the butterfly valve is on the throttle body) and have a piece of metal connected to that ( which isat the end of the manifold) which connects all the t/bs thus opening the same distance at same time, i was jus worried about if the stock ecu can handle this and about how i will be setting the idle speed on it, but if it doesnt work it doesnt work wont bother me much least have some fun with it.

The stock ECU should handle it, only reason to go after market would be if you want to tune each cylinder speratly based on the air its being fed.
your main problems will be: MAP sensor pressure has to be good and get too high or will need custom adjustment. TPS mounted to be able to determine throttle position (no big deal really), the runenrs are long enough to supply air to the motor in a timely manner. Lastly runner length will severly determine power/torque and top end revs that can be achieved, point in case is me EA I have dual runner manifold from an EL installed, if I lock it in long runner mode at 4,000rpm it its a brick wall will not rev any more but has heaps of torque, in short runner (length is rougjly same as ea/b/d length) will rev all the way out but with less torque down low. I reckon an EL BBM with each section blocked off and six throttle bodies on it with dual runner switching would be awesome.
