I finally got around to getting my car put back on the dyno after getting my TB bored out.
on the standard 64mm throttle body i made 143 rwkw @ 4900 rpm on the 68mm throttle body i made 152 rwkw @ 5400 rpm power curve from 4900 rpm and below was exactly the same torque curve from 4900 rpm and below was exactly the same it was only after 4900 rpm that things changed.... i hope that puts alot of the debating about throttle body size on an NA6 car to sleep!

so where do i get my hands on a 68mm t/b? a 9 kw difference is a very nice increase!

remembering that without many other mods.. there are far more better things to do... the throttle body mod will have the most gain on an allready worked engine... -good result there vince...

well as i said there is no difference below 4900, instead of dying off it keeps on climbing till redline. you cant feel it in 1st or 2nd gear because the engine just revs way too quick to feel it, in third you can, but at that stage your doing about 130-150 clicks and its time to slow down! perfect for the 1/4 mile or dyno though.. no real difference on the street.
one other observation, there was no difference running the 3inch intake pipe compared to no intake and just an exposed throttle body..

Maybe not on a dyno where the bonnet is open and you're not dealing with an enclosed space filled with hot air close the bonnet and get the car upto a decent temp and see the difference nice result on the t/b!

You've also got a variable in that the two set-ups were not tested on the same dyno on the same day.

the throttle bodys were compared months apart that is true, but the graphs were spot on from 4900 and below.
if anything, the run with the new TB was done on a hot engine, and the old run was on a cool engine... the runs with the intake on and off were both done yesterday...

i have bored out my tb with a dremel and 120 grit tubes, you are pretty safe as long as you keep the butterfly firmly closed. stick some blue tack in the valve aswell i was suprised at the extra sound and responsivness especially at the points you have describd definate worthwhile mod i also had noticable increase from matching surfaces of tb & bbm and deburing,porting and 120/80 grit rough surfacing the top half of the bbm |

sounds like you have polished the bore without increasing the diameter of the butterfly. i got a new butterfly and TB professionally machined out, didnt cost me too much because it was a mate of mine.
seems like there is a bit of interest in getting some made up, ill look into it and get a price for those that are interested, it would have to be on an exchange basis with your existing TB though it takes about an hour to machine, plus material, machine cutters,etc, and there is a bit of fitment work to be done to get the new butterfly to fit into the existing shaft. id say about $150, but ill have to confirm this. that seems reasonable compared to the $300 ones that get sold on ebay. how does that sound?
