Hey guys im saving to buy a car sumtime next year and was looking at getting another car which i can fix up over the next year or two for a street/strip/track car and have been interested in the 1970 Capri i know some of these came with the v6 but i've heard nothing but bad things about them i was wondering if it would be wise putting in the ed-au stype of I6 modifying it to carbie and putting sidedraughtes on it with other mods......i was also looking into the 200hp zetec engine since they are pretty darn cheap, forged rebuild and putting on a snail......what do you guys think of each.........thanks heaps guys

legally, the only way you can ditch the EFI with a later model engine is if you go to gas...... have you thought of a 351C?

They are getting hard to get nowdays. My son has a 302V8 Windsor in his 1970 & has run 12's. If you can find a half decent one Go for the Windsor.

Straight six's don't realy fit...
Well the ballance is all stuffed up handling wise... Depends what you want it for ??? This exact question came up six month's ago... Imo I'd go either late model V6 from Jap light trucks... Or if you want grunt go the Lexus V8... Imo a 4 cylinder is too small...

Wait till you get the Capri, then think about what you really want, and what can be achieved, your oviously a person who dosnt take the word no very well, and thats a good thing if you want to be original. but untill you have the car and are deadly serious to the point of measurments and planning all your doing now is dreaming.
ps metallica suck... MegadetH rule \m/

if it's your first build keep it simple and learn from it so you can do better next time. going a zetec is good as you could use the original gear box. the engine bolts stright up. but a turbo would kill the that box, it also means all of the old gear box swaps still work like the celica 5 speed or supra 5 speed. (through castlemain rod shop) if your keen on a carbie 6cyl why not put a capri V6 in your capri. no moding needed all factory parts are there. or if ou have that much money that you could do all of the stuff you want to, a mate of mine is selling a 3 owner restored CAPRI V6 GT. it is in original paint colour matching numbers and come with the full service history of the car including the purches papers. he wants $11 000 |

Ok what about if i were to go about buying a cortina also a hot looking car and slamming in the I6 into that im hoping for around 250kws probably go the AU engine and if its not possible to get 250kws naturally id go forced induction but this will be a 2 year project, and i dont want to buy a car and go form there cause what if i cant get what i want then i got a car that i dont want thats why id like peoples ideas here first before i purchase anything thanks everybody

My son built up a TC Cortina with 250 2v head, heatseaker cam, 350 Holley, 5 speed steel case and 4 cylinder 3.45 diff ratio...That car was surprisingly quick!!! Beat any NA XR6 easy...

very nice how much it cost him to do......see i want to do full rebuild, either forged everything or at least pistons and beams, open up head nice n get the air rushing through, duel springs, heavy a** cam, and probably individual throttle bodies (if its the 4lt 6 i go for) from either hyabusa bike or something in the line of that
