Okay so i've tried all 3 fuels in my ford BA XT 2002, stock everything except for the rims...

first i tried 98 octane when i got my car, runs awesome, good response and throttle/acceleration.
next the 95 went in.. not much difference in my opinion.. well what i could feel anyway, all felt normal and fine. but today..... i put in 91 octane and accelerating is now from SUPER AWESOME to bicycle acceleration...

does anyone else feel differences and that in their vehicles? because in my opinion... 91 octane is just pure s**t. lol

edit: please move this thread to the LPG and fuels forum moderators... my mistake :p

Yep I was getting misfiring and s**t performance in my EF 6cyl, stock except extractors and exhaust, replaced a bunch of things trying to fix it and then filled up with 98 octane Caltex Vortex, problem solved instantly :D Thread about it is here:

I can only speak from the BF perspecitve but i run mine on E10 and works fine (mind you says its fine on the petrol flap), I am still able to smash stock BA turbos in a drag. I am thinking once i have done my mods and time for a tune i might look to run it on premium, its just the price hike is so high its hard to justify the performance gain

e10 may be called 91 RON but it has a octane output of 94-95 depending on which servo you go to, ba N/A can run on 91, i think its the turbos that are recommended to run on 95, but dont quote me on that

I run BP 98 in my XR6, XR8, Boat and yep even lawnmower and whipper snipper. I am a strong believer you always use the best fuel you can afford. I have 2 good mates, one a carby technician and the other mechanic/fuel injection and they have told me countless stories about s**t fuel and why never to use it. The 98 gets slightly better performance, slightly better milage and is cleaner for your engine. Its a win-win option, just costs a bit more. Ethanol = crap unless your engine is built to use it, dont. My mate put it in his BA ute from a dodgy looking petrol station, the car ran like crap was missing and spluttering. Drained the tank and replaced the fuel with 98 and it ran perfect. Hasn't missed a beat yet. Just my 2 cents...

i run all my cars on 98 except the bf which i run on 95 because the price is the only difference, ive actually got better economy on 95 than 98, i put this down to the bf only having standard tunes for 91 & 95. the other 2 cars are both over 200,000k's and the 98 seems to provide a cleaner burn with less emissions.

ur standard na bf running on e10 smashes ba turbos ? must be a freak.... coz my bf hates ethanol fuels, even though the dodgey sticker on the petrol cap says it's fine.....

no matter what way you look at it ethanol isn't economical, the v8 supercars have proved that.it's like lpg, it allegedly burns 'cleaner' you just need to burn more of it and the slightly reduced cost doesn't cover that.

according to my filler cap, 91ron is suitable for a stock BF turbo.

i have only put 95ron in a couple of times and that was because 98ron was not available. i would never use 91ron in a turbo car, unless i was stranded out in the desert!

Nothing wrong with 91 in a turbo car. Provided you don't lean on the throttle.

I have done extractors and full 2.5inch exhaust but yeah raced this dude and won, dont know if he was just s**t at the gears but i know he certainly was trying.

Anyways mine doesnt miss a beat with e10, perhaps if the prices come down i mite fill it fully up with 98 just for s**t and giggles to see the difference

Careful doing that. Make sure your tyres are speed rated for that level of awesome.
