Hi,
I have installed a 4speed auto out of a '94 Ed falcon ute into my eb2 along with the Ed loom and auto ecu, but I'm having trouble getting it to start. I have done some research and after trying a few things the only way I can get it to fire is after leaving the ignitin on for 30mins for the ecu to do its thing then it will run. But after I stop the engine I have to wait another 30mins. I believe this has somthing to do with a smartlock system that the Ed may have had and the ecu needs it installed to run correctly..? So basicly my question is can I modify the Ed auto ecu to run without the smartlock in my eb2, or if I remove the Ed ecu and install an auto eb2 ecu will it still run the Ed auto? I have been looking around and I have noticed that the manual to auto is quite rare so any info would be a great help.
Thanks.

This is the email I received from the guy who swapped boxes with me.
"it came from an xh ute,

i already have man conversion in mine, but ive sadly broken the box.

its a 4 speed BT97LE, (EF Xr6 Ones)"

So yea sorry your right the box is from an xh ute and I'm guessing so is the loom and ecu.
I do apolagise I got mixed up with my gumtree emails...
Funy thing tho the box is a BTR 94 LE.. So I think I got ripped off..
Is there any way for me to change the thread topic?

Sorry

Ok, I have just checked and the code on the gearbox its '94 DA 7000 BB' and the codes on the ECU are '5TBB', and '95DT-12A650-BB'.
I don't know much about this sort of thing (which is why I'm here) but I have the feeling that the info I was given by the guy i did the swap with may be incorrect..
Does this ECU go with this box?
And can I get this to work in my EBII?

Is there any way of tricking the ecu to think I have smartlock?

yea iv looked at that, was more leaning towards a simpler cheaper option.. was there a way to bypass it without spending money? like just rewiring? or is that the only thing i can do...

If you have an EB2, you should have smartlock. I have smartlock in mine. I am using an ED XR6 manual ecu in my car now since the manual conversion.

I also have an EB2 XR6 auto ECU sitting in the shed doing nothing. 1DBD I think.

ECU Catch codes is a good resource for seeing what ecu you might need/have:

Is 9/92 EBII, the last non-smartlock EBII from what iv read. And yea iv gone over the catch codes and pretty much narrowed it Down to the ones that should work. I'm sure there is more than the 3 I have found to be close enough but at the moment this is the best I have found.

3DCB     93DA-12A650-CB
1DCC     91DA-12A650-CC
2DMA     92DA-12A650-MA

I have a 5tbb 95dt-12a650-bb to swap if anyone has one of them.

Thanks

as far as i know there is no other way to bypass the Smartlock, with some hunting at wrecker's you should be able to find a non-Smartlock one for $30-$50 any more than that you're getting ripped off.
