This may have been covered before but I have a few questions regarding these 2 cams.

Below is my last dyno run with a little bit of tuning done.

I'm quite happy with the power for the cam that I am running but the next day after an oil change my motor rattled a big end.

So I'm building a bottom end out of an El hybrid block with more compression and thinking about going a bit bigger with the cam this time.

Image

Head is ported with xr valves and double valve springs. Also adjustible vernier. Will be running the old rockers as the hybrid has a different rocker ratio.

Car is manual with 3:45 lsd.
Ported throttle body and 3 inch intake with pod in an airbox.
Moates Quarterhorse for tuning.
Pacies and 2.5inch mandrel bent exhaust.

So I dont want to make the car un driveable because as it is now there is heaps of torque for street use and top and is good too.

Just want to make the most out of this package once the bottom end is built.

My questions are:

What modifications are required to the tps and isc for the cms stage 3 to run?.

Not too concerned about the wade 977b as that says nothing about tps or isc mods.

Am I wasting my time upgrading?.

What are people's experiances with these 2 cams?.

Any help would be great as I cant really make a decision at this point :?

Cheers
Matthew

977B Ex .256
In .256 64-20
22-62 206
206 Hyd
Hyd .512
.512 112 Mid to top end power. Will work with std
springs. Modified ECU preferred.

CMS Stage 3
Again our Stage 3 cam has had the same amount of testing as the Stage 2. With again more torque across the range it comes alive from approx 2600rpm until redline depending on set up. The Stage 3 has a lopy idle & still is ECU friendly, this cam must have ISC, TPS & valve spring modification carried out. SOUNDS GREAT AT IDLE.......Vernier gear required.

since you will probably be getting a tune done you probably wont need to "modify the ics"(unplug the ics) and the tps wont need adjusting its just because the idle hunts up and down with the ics plugged in and so you bump the idle up manualy and unplug the ics, then adjust the tps to think the cars throttle is full closed at the idle you have set

Will do mate. I will have to see how the new motor goes with the 977b or cms stage 3 first. I might not like them and change back.

the cms 3 is a"bigger" cam than the 977b.
the 977b will be similar to the cms2 and will idle much smoother than the cms 3 will..
the cms 3 is similar to the wade 1521a..

in my opinion the 1521a is pushing borderline a streetable cam/off road cam from what ive read on forums/herd on youtube videos of them fitted to cars lol, altho no one ever seems to keep them in the car long enough to tune them properly either

Thanks troy. Hmmm something to think about. I feel with a wade 1521a or cms stage 3 I will be turning a plesent car into a pig. It will be fully tuned so results may be more driveable but at this stage maybe I should be sensible and go with a stage 2 cms or a 977b. It looks like they will both do a bit more than the 1673.
