krisisdog wrote: Advantage is keeping the engine bay heat down, specifically the brake booster which was known to crack from overheating in earlier models, dunno about BA onwards though. I'd put the shield back on You mean the EF onwards plastic boosters yeah? My thermo fan's probably work just a little harder due to the extractors, but i wouldn't think much. Cheers ToranaGuy

Onwards are plastic, and i too have seen many broken plastic boosters. What a great idea it was changing to them. They can't be reco'd like metal boosters, don't have the lifespan of metal boosters, and to top it off are made from something that is harder to produce & recycle than metal too. Cheers ToranaGuy

i put the heat sheild on as the heat was starting to melt the plastic coating in the throttle cable and cruise cable..
and i have noticed the radiant heat in the engine bay is much lower with the shield on.. |

That's something i haven't seen yet. Maybe yours has higher exhaust temp's due to the engine being supercharged? Cheers ToranaGuy

Sams missens ef has a fair amount of cruise cable missing, he isn't running extractors, so its not just the pipes. I run full custom pipes and hasn't melted clutch cable or throttle cables. Might make up a cover but they are an unusual shape. There shown in show us your pipes help would be good.

The sheild also discreetly hides extractors from sight.

yea it hides them but there not illegal? havent noticed any issues with extra heat in the engine bay either, but the car is still only 15000k's old. might have a look at putting it back on, and see which way looks nicer

Any performance mod is illegal for P platers in NSW lol, chips, extractors, catback, intake etc etc. so it wouldnt hurt to cove them up.

87SIlude wrote: They are for pee platers in NSW. Dunno why. "engine modification" I thought that was P platers anywhere in the country now? Hide them under a stock cover & you probably wont get noticed for them if the exhaust is quiet enough. I've had my extractors for over 100,000 kms, no heat related issues. I do run thermo fan's in the old EB Ghia tho. Cheers ToranaGuy
