Was giving the engine a wipe over the other day when I noticed I had TOP GUN leads. From what I've read they are s**t, crapola, junk, rubbish, NFG. Others have had problems with them I do believe.

The only trouble I've had with Top Gun leads is that they broke when I pulled them off the spark plugs.
If you have them on there and haven't had any problems, leave them til next time you need new ones.

leads is easy with a hoist (EF, AU) and without even (EA-EL)...
a mate put brand new top gun leads on his EL.. and tested em with some wiz bang tester and they were s**t... put new genuine ones on and than tested ok... |

I'd be inclined testing them with a multimeter, don't want weak spark. Otherwise, they should be ok.. Well, they have to have a good batch some time or other..

TOPGUNS are totally s**t. I unknowingly bought a set last year and 2 months later as I was checking the Sparkplugs and taking a couple of the lead offs. The actual Sleeves then fell off the lead in to my hand with 2 of them. I re-attached them but no good as my EL kept flat spotting after that. Then I replaced them all with Bosch ones and it has been running excellent ever since. Eagles are a very good brand as well.

Good call drone. If resistance is acceptable who cares what's printed on the insulation! Worth checking tho - we're into pinging season! Crikey - a hoist to change leads?!?!?!? And i thought the alternator on the windsor made it tough! lol

I have the red Motorcraft leads on my EB and they have never broke when changing plugs nor have they caused my car to idle rough so I'm pretty happy with them.

the reason that when tested with a multimeter the top gun leads seem s**t is because they have spiral core wire. while when you're testing them they seem to give varying readings etc. when in practice with the higher voltages and current they perform as good if not better than a normal cored wire. i know this because we sometimes get customers saying that their top guns are s**t because of the multimeter testing.
we've have had top guns on my ed since new and never had a problem. only thing i could suggest is wrapping tape around the leads where they come into contact with the rocker cover. stops arcking (spelling?) and prevents wear.

This post prompted me to check what leads I have on my car. I saw motorcraft and heaved a sigh of relief, then in tiny little lettering I saw the year 1988.
WTF! I still have the original leads on my car! Trip to Sprint for new leads this week I reckon.........
