Might be the right place to ask... shall give it a try..

Looking at putting a BA XR6T into a XHII Pany (as a more robust and reliable option to bolt on turbo and finding out bits and pieces failing over time)...one renowned ford NSW wrecker reckons they can do the engine & mechanical install (except electric connections) for $5k... others will supply all required items for $4500...no fitment...

I am keen to know others who have put a BA/BF XR6T into a XG or XH series ute or E series sedan/wagon...

Curious of structural hurdles, I have learnt that I will require the following:

BA body control module, key reader, barrel and dash loom to bypass the passive anti theft security system. Alternatively you can flash tune around it.

Engine, Turbo, All manifolds, Powers steering cooling line, Intercooler, piping and ducting, ecu & all necessary wiring looms to fit to BA Falcon

Going to balance this option up against the perhaps more safer and reliable option of a Jim Mock Motorsport DEV5-SS engine (producing 175rwkw reliably with great torque) for a similar cost and no mech/elec mods.. and visually a sleeper...

Welcome ideas, experience and thoughts (hoping more for educated/experienced viewpoints).

Cheers..

After the same infor if anyone could help

This thread is brilliant!!!! i'm running an FG XT at the moment (I Know, the handle kinda gives it away!), but i'm putting together funds to do an X-Series project, and have been leaning towards XF with late model 6-cylinder gear. am seeing a lot of useful stuff in here!!!!

just a quick question since the ba through to fg run the barra engine progressively getting tweaked each generation (correct?) would the fg barra drop relatively easy into a ba fairlane?

No it wouldnt be easy, the FG's run a rear mounted sump, and a different oil pick up, and probably a different oil pump, it might not even be possible without getting a totally custom sump made, and it wouldnt make much difference anyway, if you want to change your motor, a BF one will pretty much bolt straight in.

Wouldn't a BA Sump/Pump and pickup work?

I'm doing the engine conversion to my EL soon as well.

Should edit and update the first post of the thread, surely things have advanced a long quite a lot since then, especially regarding DOHC conversions into E Series.

Contact Crescent Motorsport (CMS). They have a page on the commercial sponsors forum and do a drive in drive out deal for the BA into Eseries conversions.

Cheers

I was thinking them. Just wanted to know 100%. Was thinking stage 3 snort kit but for an extra bit of cash I can get a motor stronger motor

There's a number of ways to do this:

Option #1

Swap over all your manifolds, Distributor, alternator, p/s pump and everything over to the EF engine, then just install it as if it's an NC engine. This is the easiest option and it's what I'd do.

Option #2

Install an EL ECU, retain the Broad band manifold from the EF, run the EF serpentine belt setup, and tap the appropriate wires in for the thermo fans and BBM switch over. This would be the other way I'd consider going.

Option #3

Fit the EF engine as is, drop the dissy from your NC engine in it, run it off the NC computer, (some wires will need to be extended) and get a switch from Jaycar or similar to do the broad band change over, and get a davies craig thermo switch or similar to control the thermo fans.

Option #4

Fit an entire NF Fairlane wiring harness from the front to the back of the car, and run an EF dash and climate control, the whole lot, and run it like it's in an EF.

Option #5

Splice in the nessacary parts of an EF Falcon loom into your existing NC loom and run with the EF coil packs etc, this is by far the hardest method, and I dont reccomend doing it unless you are good with electronics and have a GOOD wiring diagram for both cars.
