Hey 09RQR I recently did an AU1 into an EF falcon. Below is my response to what I did different:

ef thermo housing - I used the AU housing and simply added the sensor wire for the back of the head.

ef aircon compressor and spacers - Spacers need to be cut down as the AU has large spacers on the block. I was not ablt to make the spacers at the time so I used some M12 nuts. 2 between the block and compressor and one on the other side. Used EF bolts as well.

ef intake and harness - I onlu used the top half of manifold with EF harness.

au plug and wire for the knock sensor - I simply unscrewed the AU sensor stud from the block and used the EF sensor that screws into the block.

AU Fan Belt - I used the EF Belt.

I did not swear much either. It just goes straight in.
gezz it takes me 200 swear words just to change the oil filter.

Smee, I believe that sensor is the AU version of the crank sensor (like ef under manifold). Just leave it.

Gday guys :) hoping someone can answer my questions on this thread.

I have a xg ute that I need a replacement motor and auto for, and was wondering what motors I can drop straight in with little to no fuss? I am a bit confused with all the e series models.
Also what sort of price for a motor and auto fitted, would I be looking at ?

Cheers

Just to add to this I am looking at fitting an AU motor into an XG but am a little confused as to if it is a straight fit or not?

would there be much hassle involved if i wanted to put a BA engine & dash (ie. ecu & electronics) into my NC2 sportsman fairlane?

would the sump and bonnet be the only real issues?

I was originally just really keen on having the BA interior in my lane, then I stumbled across this post..

Will take a fair bit of cutting/moulding/re-shaping of the BA dash to make it fit in the NC2...trying to maneuver the dash in the car to cover all areas and also have functional heater/aircon and all that jazz will be tedious...unless you have heaps of money and time to throw at it.

BA motor wise, shouldn't be hard to fit...some minor adjustments and it will go in.

well i've got plenty of time, and a couple spare NA fairlanes that i guess i could use to reshape the dash into, then once it fits properly, put it straight into my NC, so i guess i should start going to auctions to find a totalled BA
