Don't worry Adam...once she comes alive again you'll be filled with satisfaction. When I do my T5 conversion I'd be happy for it to work...and frustrated if it just dies on me. Thanks for doing this...I am learning from you =D phong =P~

yep took the head in got them to clean it skim it and pressure test it.
then when i got it back i took the valves out and lapped them with valve grinding paste. put new stem seals in. and she basicly like new. $45 for head to be clean, skimmed , tested. $30-40 bucks for 7mm stem seals (au valves) $10 bucks for valve grinding paste. (that will last for a long time) oh and 2 new valves as i had 2 bent zorst valves. $8 bucks each from mate at ford. and he ported it slightly too . befor i put the valves back in . neway enought of my rambling s**t. good luck with getting it started. hopfully it works out with no drams. |

Repco no longer carry the tool the guy behind the counter scratched his head and then his a** going "what is it?" if i didn't stop there once a week i would have b**ch slaped him

Lol, good posts on this page lads.
SUCCESS The car started today, and is now running, drove it to work tonight. I was amazed how it idles now at the lights, VERY smooth, and even smoother with air con naturally. Only issue is the revs are sitting a bit high. Eg. I can put the car in drive and take the hand brake off on a flat piece of road, and without brakes and throttle, the car wll idle up about 30km/h. So it's a little dangerous, and keeps you on your toes when you first start the car going, because the car starts going when you put it in gear, forward or reverse without throttle. Have to really put the brakes on now, because the car just wants to keep going, lol. I think it may be a throttle issue. Anyone want to take pictures the throttle cable from the cruise module to the inlet chamber. Finally, thanks to everyone who helped on this project, wouldn't of been driving my car today if I didn't have the help I got. Thanks again.

hey guy's
finaly got the old head off (20 min with the first angle grinder untill it died, 20 min to supercheap for a new one and 10 min to remove the other) and got a shock when i saw the last 3 pots god damm rust. The last pot is fairly red and the 3rd 'n' 4th have a bit on the surface of the sleve so i'm wondering if any of you guys think this will be a "major problem". i just want the bastard running as i can get a new motor in a few weeks for $200 and i already got the parts to do this head. thanks dingstock
