Yeah mate, getting it flushed, radiator is out.

So I have to basically have that indicator on the front of the engine, spot on with the mark on that pulley?

Do I cable tie to this thing here? (see picture)

yep.

well you dont have to.

can have it where ever you want as long as the timing chain doesnt skip any teeth.

you just set it to TDC so that if you do loose the cam gear, or skip a tooth, you know its at TDC and can go from there.

no the arrow is pointing to the chain guide which you don't need to cable tie, just as long as your chain dosent slip.

Okay, doesn't show int he picture, but I basically have the indicator and point spot on, now.

Which bolts will let me get that gear out?

How does the mark in the timing chain pulley look?

pic 1 looks good.
pic 2 you need to remove the yellow circled bolt as it's holding the gear onto the camshaft. you won't need to remove the blue bolts unless your gonna throw a cam in it.
pic 3 looks good too.

Okay, tried removing that bolt, no go. It actually ended up turning the timing chain pulley a little (I'm guessing anti-clockwise is how to get it off, right?). Now the indicators aren't lined up, is this a problem? Should I realign the indicators (everything is cable tied up).

Do I need to remove the tenstion on the timing chain to remove that bolt?

Cheers.

You wont need to remove the tensioner to remove the bolt, but it will make life a hell of a lot easier to remove it when you try to put the cam gear back on.
Wedge a screw driver through the cam gear to stop it turning.. Anti clockwise is right..

I wouldn't worry about to much about the mark just yet, Just make sure it all lines up when you put it back together..

Good luck..

get a good socket and longest breaker bar/drive and shock the bolt anticlockwise by apply presure anticlockwise and then hitting end of drive with a hammer this usually gets it off. once off just oull the gear off cam and let it sit there.

dont forget to remove the 10mm bolt that runs through the guide on the front of the head, :P:P i have once b4

yeh either wedge a screw driver between the gear and the head or use a rattle gun to undo it.

Okay, hit a speed bump. I can't get these bolts of, as per the picture. I'm using what you can see on bolt 14. Should I get an extension or something?

lol, yes, your going to need a breaker bar, or be dodgy and slide a pipe over the end of your ratchet to get extra leverage.
Gonna be reeaaaaal hard getting headbolts off with that much leverage!

Lol, talk about it, I was worried it would give and I would rip my fingers to shred with the amount of force I was putting into it.
