Does anybody have experience with Advance headers for the EA-AU 4.0l?

I was curious what they were like compared to other brands.
I currently have them fitted and as the Dyno shows it has a real wide midrange power band, but I am looking for more power at the moment, which will no doubt be achieved at a higher rev range. I was therefore thinking of getting some new extractors probably with longer primaries to better enhance top end flow.

Any opinions?

cheers,
matt

Any of them help?

Have you don't any other work to the car? Instead of playing around with extractors only why not try some other things first, Wade Stage 2 cam, Tickford ECU, bigger air intake snorkel and hi flow filter, better intake piping, etc.

I had Advance Headers on my last car, an XH 4 litre ute. There was a definate improvement with them fitted to the car, the mid range was excellent and the motor revved a lot more freely up top.

Yeah I am doing other thigs to the car, mainly heads and cam, which is why i was thinking about different extractors, so that it would all go together better...

thanks for the help,
Matt

I'd get the head and cam done before worrying about the extractors again. even then there's probably gunna be better areas to worry about.

I've already got the tickford snorkel, bigger intake piping, high flow filter, and if you look to the left you will see I drive an XR6, which has the tickford computer. I'll probably do the cam and heads next and then look at new extractors, depending on the cam profile and how the heads are ported.

cheers,
matt

I have advance headers on my car and have turned out some pretty decent times and figures. I read AAAAGES ago in a magazine comparo that they were the goods and they were under $400 fitted so I went with it. It was one of the first mods I did but to be honest I didn't notice a huge improvement in feel. With a wade stage 2 cam as well I pulled high 130s on the dyno and a 14.8 quarter - at the time it was faster than what most others with the same cam and "better" extractors were doing.

I still have them on my new engine now with a whole heap of extra work and they're still serving me well. They're press bent which you'd think would restrict the flow, but they seem to perform so they get my approval
