never heard of advanced headers so i cant comment on them.

But, $600 sounds a bit much for headers. unless their the beez neez

around $450, usually less for pacemakers is the way to go in my opinion.
the stockie cat is fine unless its rooted, even then a new one is under $200. (or cheaper from the wreckers)

About 6 months ago i got a full exhaust done for just under $900 fitted.

Pacemaker PH4499 > New 2½" Cat > Lukey 2½" Exhaust even including a stainless tip.

Never had it dyno'd but feels like it made a difference, sounds good anyway.

I've got advance headers. They go alright... but I've got nothing to compare them to. I got a full system done on my car, 2.5" cat back exhaust with the headers all for $600 so $600 just for headers and cat is a bit over the top. Don't go Profix or Midas or any of those places. They majorly overcharge for that stuff. Find an actual performance exhaust place.

And one final thing... I got my headers put straight into my standard cat. So I don't know what your mate was on about. Besides, high-flow cats basically do nothing for the $200-$300 you pay for them. May as well keep the standard or just do a dodgey and modifiy the standard to the size of your system

you dont have to change the cat, the standard one can be modifed to fit the extractors. ive herd a ef with no cat and the exhaust note isnt what you'ld like it to be, very loud though. if you want good sound then ild say go the extractors, cat, and have NO mufflers in the cat back system. it will be ear hurting loud with a good soung to it

after a mate finished rebuilding his car we drove about 80kms to the exhaust shop to get an exhaust fitted up. All he had on was the extractors.
about 40minutes at god knows how many decibels, that was freakin LOUD!
