So advance it by 2 degrees each time ?
Is pinging loud , I've heard the 4L masks the noise ?

i advanced my timing about 3 degrees. its about 5mm gap between the balancer mark and timing mark. and 1.5 mm is 1 degree .
heaps more down low. im going to advance it more, it doesnt ping which is good. im running PULP i assumed the bolt to loosen the dizzy, was on the dizzy but its no where near on it. it is holding a bracket which holds the dizzy in place

i advanced my timing a little more today. i think its about 5 or 6 degres. i advanced it about 10 degress then put it back to 6 deg, but i dont know if its pinging. i dont know what it sounds like. my engine did make a different noise tho its was a fast kinda noise lol like chain rattle ??
ill up load a video and could someone tell me how much its advanced. it would help if the balancer had marks on it. it looks about 8 mm gap

the gap looks bigger but if u turn ur head its smaller cos the video has been turned around

Yep, pinging will sound a bit like chain rattle or a pocketful of coins being shaken...

what sort of petrol were you running? 91 95 or 98?

Can pinging be heard revving it ? Like not under load, Just sitting there and increasing the revs ? I
Have rev hang where the revs take a bit to come down. It idles higher to. As for fuel I'm running half 95 and half 98. Not the best combination but i had half a tank of 95 when I filled up. I'm going to wait until it runs out the fill up with 98 and see how I go .

Make sure now the timing been set on 98 if you run 91 it will probably ping, and as for reving it, you would probabbly hear it more when going up a hill with load on the engine
