Looks like you have everything under control.
Just a few notes. Regarding the water pump. When you remove it, you usually destroy the 2 gaskets that are present. The metal piece you are talking about is like a spacer, when the pump is new, there is a paper gasket sandwiched between the metal spacer and the water pump and one paper gasket between block and metal spacer. The outside paper gasket is obviously easy to replace, however the one between pump and spacer is much harder. Have a look at this ebay link. if you don't know what I am on about. You can make out the gasket between the metal spacer and pump (zipped tied together). I have never used gasket maker on such an area before as a primary sealer, so I wouldn't recommend it...leaking coolant is a b**ch. However I have had a thought about cutting a slit in the gasket and then inserting it between the metal spacer and pump making sure the slit is facing away from the engine. Put gasket maker on either side of the gasket...concentrating around the cut part...however not sure how well that would seal at higher temperatures. O2 sensor, just replace it...doesn't cost much considering how long it can last. Fuel regulator, you can run the 270kpa no worries. I ran the Tickford motor with a 270kpa fuel reg for a few months or so with a standard ECU. Changed the fuel reg and injectors at the same time and used a Tickford ECU. You can still run the engine with the standard ECU regardless, you don't NEED a Tickford ECU, however it will run better if you have all the goodies on the engine. Hope that helps.

I used only gasket maker the first time and look what happened: This time, I used the supplied gasket and no problems so far, fingers crossed...

Forgot to add...one of the bolts that hold the water pump in place needs some gasket maker smeared on it. I think it was top drivers side bolt. The bolt goes through the block and into the water pump cavity, so it can leak, but check which bolt goes through.

I will just buy a new waterpump for peace of mind. Does the bypass hose seal up with an o ring or just sealant? This one looks like somebody used grey tile grout but smooth so I presume it was some sort of sealant.
Do I have to put the leads back into their ziptied flexible casing in sets of 3 (dont they do this at factory?) undet the inlet manifold?

A new one is supplied with the pump. +1, however I had issues with mine leaking with the O-ring due to my bypass pipe was slightly kinked. I just smeared some gasket maker on the tip with the o-ring in place and its been holding for years. My leads are all separate, I just threw the flexi-hose away...was more of a nuisance IMO.

Waterpump, leads, plugs, rotor button and cap are sorted. Going to go on today. I will probably report back tonight.

waterpump fitted and new thermostat, alternator rebuilt but not fitted, belt tensioner assembly fitted. i ended up re-using the waterpump from the old motor as it looked brand new. just bought the paper/fibre gasket for $6.
plugs, leads, rotor button and dizzy cap are done. not a bad days work for a guy with 2 fked discs in my back. once i stopped though jebus break out the meds!!!! anyway. going to get the radiator outta the car tomorrow and clear most of the bay. then get the car off the trailer. unbolt the box, starter and torque converter. get the jacks out and wait for the engine crane, whats a crane worth to buy anyway? i can hire one for the weekend for $55 but i may need longer.

But Fuel reg any working will be fine Also the ECU dont worry about it , i am sure when you save up in the future the mod bite will hit and you will want a regrind cam so at the same time just get a J3 tune. |

Omg I cant read properly. I only replaced the one between the metal pump gasket and engine. Not between pump and metal gasket....ffs I always seem to screw something up.

Yeah, there is one behind the spacer and one that seals against the block.

just had a look and the gasket between the spacer and pump is there and looks intact all the way round..... Ahahahaha

My suggestion would be to fit an new water pump, you will have trouble trying to seal the inner gasket and will probably leak, and this will always do it at the worst time.
