hey
just wondering how an aftermarket exhaust is run on the EF, is it run the same way as the stock exhaust or around a differnt path? the stock exhaust has a few bends in it, so will be a bit of work if i get it bent up custom, and not sure if it will sit in properly, as i am wanting 3".. any help would be appreciated! thank you |

they run the same path and use the same supports. You would be hard pressed to find an exhaust fitter that would make one up for you, everything is off the shelf now, and straight bolt on.
supposedly a cat back redback/lukey exhaust should take no more than 30min to fit. |

3" is way to big 2 1/2" is more than adequate unless your planning major mod's or going down the turbo path, you will loose power on a standard or mildly modified 4.0L I6.

thanks, yeah i am doing a turbo conversion thats what the exhaust is for!.. any idea if there are any off the shelf 3inch exhaust kits available? thanks for the replies! |

there is an off the shelf 3 inch for the AU V8 that will sort your tail pipe and the rear half of the system. you just need to cut the front y section out and have you dump pipe joined to it

i got mine done a week ago the bloke made the system up himself sounds and goes pretty dam good (still smilling)not turbo but there,s people that still do it and i think there a lot better than off the shelf

There's no point in making the exhaust any more unless there's something different about it. Much easier and cheaper as quicker timewise to use an off shelf one. As for them running along the same path, off shelf ones do. But depending on what you get it may not - mine doesn't. But thats how I made it. |

i got mine custom made so now it sits up a lot closer to the floor. even though my car is lowered and has longer wheelbase i never (very rarely) scrape the exhaust, muffler or cat on anything. not sure on pricing interstate but mine cost $1100 for the lot.

(evilcheif) we did a twin cat long secondary system in to a 3 inch on his AU 6cyl. it was a little bit overkill for his engine. but it still picked up .3 seconds at the strip |
