Sorry for the dodgyness of the editing but i am on the piss, why don't air intakes run this way?

It's shorter and i think would look better.

Why do i keep getting stopped from uploading, max of 5Mb and i haven't uploaded anything in months

Oh your temp issue with stainless lets think about the amount of aluminium or stainless with intercooler and pipes.

I recon this was started by some guy who wanted to sell CAI.

The air in intercooler pipes is HOT after going through the turbo, so the pipe cools it down. Air through the airbox is cool compared to the engine, so the pipe warms it up

Still, it doest warm it up as much as many would think. It really is only a couple of degrees with steel pipe.

Aluminium conducts heat better than steel, so it would be a step in the wrong direction.

You said what I was thinking Stockstandard, and thats my point.

Im running a cam, what I did was get a mounting point on the shock tower
with a piece of hose pipe under one of the other shock tower bolts.

No knocking, no noises.

I will be interested if done the right way.

What I feel would be to keep it short (keeping at least 75mm straight to straighten flow into TB) and keeping away from headers as much as possible. Then keep bend long to get a better flow, then from there straight towards left side with the flex hose on the straight section (I feel having flex hose on the bend would cause restriction and turbulance which = less flow exspecially with the corrugated factory hose).
A finally into air box.

Would it look neater keeping air box and cutting a 3" hole in base and through panel with a 3" hose running to just before trailing edge of bumper.
If done like this with intake pipe painted black the fuzz would not hassle as much when looking under bonnet as well the stock sleeper look.

About the logo thing with ACAD what exactly have you in mind?
Is it to be cnc machined up from ACAD program?

I would still like to know why ford has still not made a simple tube intake like what is being discussed.
What ford has fitted has had a lot of time put in eg EF XR6 set up single to twin back to single, 3 flexible hose joints which all add up to costs.
I would like to actually see a before and after dyno to see if there is a increase in power and no drop across the before dyno eg new peak 190kw
old 161kw but at 3000rpm before has 20kw more.
Also the best way would be to see average hp torque comparison as it will give a better picture of the benifits.

If the tube intake makes a 20kw peak difference but has a lower average it will only be of benefit to a manual or high stall auto car where it can use the peak difference more effectively and won't be as driveable.
Motors make the best power at high air speeds and if you increase the diameter of the intake the air speed will slow in the low end power untill it starts to build airspeed to fill the cylinders.
So what is of the most importance is to smooth out the flow path
as this will give more power all through the rpm range staying with same diameter.
A increase in diameter is more suited to blown or stroked engines as they need more volume.

When I get a bit of free time I'am going to design a box type air box that mounts to top of rocker cover using a panel filter then a scoupe like a gt shaker hat.
This will give the shortest track to TB as well as no bends and plenty of cool air.

Sorry about long thread.

Ford don't do everything for power. They have emissions and noise levels to meet.
