just had my car at the auto sparkys place... and he says my condensor is leaking.... rekons it will be a $500 job to fix.....i dont know much about the aircon units so if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to get this fixed with minimal cost

$500 for a condenser fitted sounds about on par.

can get ya a condensor for $170 or so... thats excl install. you'd have to get that done elsewhere, or do it yourself :wink:

edit: thats brand new as well.

$160 incl tax for a new condensor - but i need to know which model it is - i'm told there are 2 types. i'm also told its an easy fit - but the bumper needs to be taken off - hehe and you know how much fun that is azza! :P well i've gotta do the radiator as well - so maybe we do it together next week? wed or thurs or something? i wont be working then... let me know ASAP so i can get the condensor ordered... :wink:

a condensor shouldn't be too hard to fit your self, it may requirt to take off the bumper though then you just need a re-gas, as for the evaporator take it to someone else this is a complete pain in the a*** which consists of removing the whole dashbord just to get to it.

can get the condensor for 125 so thanx for ya help ugly bob but ill get it from my mech....

ok since ppl are throwing around prices, hoe about a compressor for an EF FUTURA? also is it really neccessary to flush the whole system when i replace it (mine has seized up :evil: ) :?:

just fitted a new compressor to my EF Falcon. Comp cost me $480.00. New receiver dryer was $15.00. When I removed the old comp there was a s**t of aluminium filings in the HP line. I have a mate that is an aircon guy, we flushed the system into a plastic bag....man it was full of aluminium filings that would have not only blocked the TX valve but would have stuffed the brand new comp. So my long answer to your question is...yes. If your going to cough up 5 undy for a new comp don't risk stuffing it by running the crap from the system thru it. :wink:

my aircon is f**k too, and its the evaporator, so i just said bugger that, ill live without it. Too expensive to get done.
