Wish you were over here, or vice versa, the arguments I'm having in getting the local bloke to use it are b/s. It's readily available but only if you're licensed, as you undoubtedly know, and he seems to be tied to one product that requires changes to my system. I will find someone who'll do it, just a matter of time. Glad too hear it's as good as I've read about it. Cheers Paul

Actually in WA HyChill does not require a license as its a Naturally occuring product.
It evean comes with Dye in it. You cant buy it non dyed. I used to do about 10 charges a week at my old work. I fiddled with the charge amounts abit. ( dont reccomend anyone else does it) I gave a fairlane back to a customer once and he said the ac was to cold. We were getting -5c at the vents. I educated the guy to stop setting it at 16C and try 23 wich he did and was happy. Alot of GLI customers had to turn there heater on slightly to ease the cold off but they were happy they were freezing on a average 36 degree perth day. The charge for my falcon el is 300 gramms. it actually has 315 in it made a 5 degree diffrence. Vent temp is -10

That's the type of chill factor I can handle happily.
The EB2 rec. weight is 390g, if that's not cold enough I'll see if they'll add another 5%. Should be ok though -5C would be great. AFAIK, it's not the product, apparently the argument has to do with the regulations in NSW about who can work on aircon systems, seems wrong to me as I can buy it from Canada complete with DIY instructions. I have a trade account at Bursons and they're checking whether they're breaking any 'rules' by selling it to me. They only list the large containers and I only want enough for my car, so we've compromised. They'll help me find someone locally who'll do me a trade deal on a service with Hy-Chill and I'll stop annoying them. As I'm about to swap the aircon system complete with climate control from a 115K EB2 Mont into our GLI, I'll need the re-gas in the next week to ten days. The 'Monts got an RD 2222 sticker on it? Are they special composition 'o' rings I need to use when putting it back together and what refrigerant oil would you recomend I use? Cheers Paul

Dont worry about what Sticker it has. The EB Mont is probberly a R22 or CFC System.
Hy Chill will drop str8 in. But if your removing connectors ect. Only replace seals with R134A seals as they do last longer and leak less than the old R22 Gas. Also unless the oil is removed from the compressor you wont need to add any more. To much compressor oil will blow its seals. So if you wish toc hange the oil remove it all completley and replace with the oil the compressor manafacturer requires. |

Thanks heaps mate, I'll try not to lose any oil and follow your advice on seals. Do Bursons or Repco etc carry them or do I need to see a specialist supplier? The 'mont system is in as new condition, very cold and very well maintained. That's where the recharge comes in of course and the Hy-Chill is the best option IMO. I feel much better about it due to your experience with it. Thanks again. Paul

HyChill takes a bit longer to produce cold air like 30 seconds ect thats due to the gas having to pressurise. But who cares. At least if it leaks out your not gonna get choked by it and its not bad for the enviroment.

Definitely a good read. Paul, blank the receiver/dryer when the lines are loosened, as you know, they draw moisture from the air - it may be worth installing a new unit - depending on when the EB unit was replaced (if at all).
Obviously Garsiph will have more knowledge and can advise better on this.

If you evacuate the system for a hour or so most of the moisture will come out of the Recever Dryer. But personally I would install a new one as it will be full of dirt from the AC systems and little shards of metal from the AC pump.
Its best to replace. |
