bugger aye, my aircon compressor just siezed, gonna cost me $900 and thats mates rates. Fraud charge $800 just for the compressor. Deffinately check is theres any gas or if the compressor is engaging when the ac is turned on. Could be the clutch in the compressor.

It is out of gas mate, samething happened to me last car EB falcon. There is a pressure switch at the compressor which cuts the power if no gas circulating(prevent damage).

Would that be the same on the EL V8? Mine doesnt turn on either. I thought it was the clutch was stuffed. But if it has a pressure switch then it might be out of gas. |

Yeah... when you swap over the compressor you will also need to swap over the dryer, possibly the condensor if it is weeping - most falcon ones do after a while, then add a regas to it ... having a cold car isn't cheap when things go wrong lol

$900 for a compressor? i can get a coolroom compressor for about $400
a car compressor looking around $300 or so, and yes, need to change the dryer, not neccassarily the condenser... and then a mechanic to regass it

Reminds me of when my mate picked up his wifes car from its service from the "family friend" and the guy says it needs about a litre of oil?? Can you say getting f**k up the a***! It amazing how so called friends rip off mates. Use your brain or common sense for your wallets sake. |

Check your AC relay & Fuse first.

Feed 12v to the compressor where the little wire goes into it, and see if the clutch engages.

After you've checked all those other things and have still come up blank, have a look at your wiring diagram in your Gregories Part 20 page 226
It took me a little while to find it on my EA but it's up behind the glove box could be dirty contacts.

It will be out of gas mate, the A/C relay is the blue relay.
One day i just went to turn the a/c on and no clutch noise and no blue light on the button. Got a multimeter out and traced the 12volts back to the compressor. Bypassed the pressure switch( from memory i think the one your after is up near the TX valve-near the wash bottle for windscreen) Anyway used a bit of wire and the clutch locked in and blue light came on. Then i new i had either a stuffed pressure switch or it was out of gas. IT WAS OUT OF GAS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |
