I got my system regassed with the new (ozone friendly) gas for old systems a coupld of months ago and it is frickin' cold. My wife reckons it is almost too cold and she always turns the temp on the CC up.
It cost me $55. The system works better than it did before with the new gas.

*grins* i know a guy that's got half a dozen bottles of R12 sitting in a shed.... bought them for his tractor airconditioners when R12 was phased out..... wont part with any at any price
apparently FR12 (the interim replacement at the time) was a blend of R12 and R134a, but i havent been able to confirm that happy, generally yes, the nastier it is to you/the environment, the better it works.... asbestos brake/clutch linings take a lot of beating....

Here's your confimation
# What is FRIGC (FR-12)? It is a blend of three components; R-134a , R-124 , and R-600. It is an enhanced version of R134a, which more closely matches R-12 performance and pressures. This enhancement improves system performance and durability while simplifying the conversion process and overall costs. See http://www.refimax.com/products/fr12.htm

Quote: http://www.hychill.com.au/products/hr12.htm Products HR12 HR12 is a blend of R600a and R290, two naturally occurring hydrocarbon refrigerant gases and is perfect for use in automotive air-conditioning systems and in refrigeration applications. HR12 is efficient and safe to use, requiring no modification to air conditioning systems and minimal modification to most refrigeration systems. Hrrm very interesting Although I like the R12 in my EBII its colder than the R134a |
