Hey everyone.. just a quick question...
i recently cracked the air intake bit for my airfilter on my EB ..dunno how (as u can see in the pics).. now im looking at either just going to ford or a wreckers and picking up the same part again.. or changing the whole setup and getting a pod or something along the same line.. anyone have any suggestions?? like i know that the Airfilters on the tickfords are bigger so is there one for thr EB? or can i fit the EF tickford intake on to a EB? ive also seen the EF intake with a pod inside of it??....is there any other model intake that people have put on there car and whats the difference????...and if anyone has done anything to there air filters on there EB can u post up some pics..? cheers

You can't use EF as the EF-EL airbox is upside down to yours, ie air goes in the bottom and out through a duct in the lid.
I changed my EA air intake for a XG when I fitted the EF thermos. IMO stay away from Pods.

Pods are a waste of time unless theyre in a sealed enclosure and have access to cool fresh air. Theyre also illegal if they arent in an enclosure as far as i know. You may as well just replace the XH snorkel you have there, and live with it. Its basically the best thing youve got for the time being, so ou may as well stick with it.

Your looks to me like a EA snorkel, XG or XH (not sure which) screws into the radiator support panel not onto the fan shroud. I had to change mine when I fitted EF thermos into my EA

Sorry mate I did this mod to my EA several years ago, I now drive and EL. I don't have any photos. I found thay the thermos made a lot of differance to engine temp. Prior to installing the thermos the EA would run high in the temp range during summer and low in winter. Once the thermos were installed the temp ran even all year. If there was a power gain it wasn't noticable. The electric fans do make a fair bit of noise but they are still quieter than the clutch fan. Engine bay is tidier and access to fan belts is easier, as it only takes a minute to remove the thermos. Cons; When the thermos kicked in you could notice a signicant drop on the voltmeter, however It never resulted in a flat battery or shortened battery life.

Don't know about any performance differance, I didn't notice any. I only fitted it because I had to, after fitting the EF thermos.

Thermos = Electric thermatic fans, replaces the clutch fan, quieter, more air flow through radiator, better cooling, controlled by thermatic switch so they are only run as required. As you will notice the EA/EB snorkel attaches to the fan shroud. Once I changed the fan shroud (all part of the EF thermo fan setup) I had to change the snorkel. From memory I only changed the snorkel, it comes apart from the top of the air box. To attach the front I drilled to holes into the radiator support panel and screwed it down. Be careful there's a radiator directly below where your drilling.
