I have the pod filter and it is easy to fit, jjust pull the air box off and put it on the end ot the tube suport it with a pod braket. i found that i get better fule ecconemy, a better note when in midrange and high range RPM's and did notice a small amount of power gain, well worth the money, get a POD

the general consensus here on fordmods seems to be K&N, personally I use K&N. 1000000km warranty, trusted brand and from what I have found and been told there has been alot of independent tests that prove they are better in the long run. but even if you say f**k all the tests . . there are alot of people here on fordmods that have them and never complain. I ahve never seen a post where someone complained about the efficiency or quality of their K&N.

my falcon only drives on sealed roads, and tassie isnj't over populated like some of your eastern places so it's fairly clean and the K&n provides more than enough filtration for me!

Back in my ford laser days the K&N air filter made a difference so it would make a bigger difference in a i6 or V8. The yanks invented these filters for drag racing so they must be better. Just listen to the difference in air suction when u rev your car

This question is not about performance, or induction sound, or economy...
Its about the filter types and their efficiency to provide a much cleaner intake. Regardless of the cost involved with the filters... the concencus seems to be paper = better for engine longevity, foam = better for engine efficiency...

I'd agree with that. I'd also take into account the roads/conditions you are travelling. I wont use an oiled filter because of the amount of dirt roads I travel, paper for me.

Standard paper filters are the best. Just open the airbox and replace. No hassles about washing, drying, oiling etc., etc.,
They filter as good as any aftermarket filter |

flows 1% less then K&N but filters right down to 4-5 microns of dust particle compare to paper{30 microns} K&N{45 microns} anything above 15 microns will do damage 100% australian made. This question has been asked before, with the same reply.

I used to think
"No way am I gonna pay $130 for a K&N". Well more fool me, best thing I ever did, actually replaced the standard filters in both cars with K&N's.... Geezus got an extra 2mpg out of the missus's BMW.... Bloody cheap and easy to clean, better filtration and better air flow. Win Win for all. |

paper filter. For mine, the K&N will give better performance, but I'm not convinced about it's long term effects.
There's plenty of time for the K&N users to find that it allows more air into the engine, filtering less dust. So why not cover your bases for the time being and use a paper filter? Err on the side of caution, if you get my drift? |
