personaly i dont see the point in a pod filter as it sits in the engine bay sucking in hot air.
iv used the stardard air box with a K&N high flow filter and it made a big improvment in response and fuel economy. Plus its not defectable |

There a few options on what you can do...
Like wtbdlltd said you can leave the airbox there and use a K&N Filter. Put the pod filter in the air box.. http://www.fordmods.com/documents.php?d=84 I would advise putting it back in the box and running it like that.... If you wanted more air to it try different mods to the air box such as: Bigger intake pipe Larger snorkel "Speed holes" in the side of the box |

This was my old set up.
Ba intake With a pod adaptor with k&n filter . I had to cut the fins inside of the airbox for it to fit .

Yeah try some heat proof paint cause other stuff will just start to wear and bubble if it isn't. Just take it out of the engine, give it a good scrub and clean, paint it back up and let it dry for a few hours.
