Hi all,
Now that some hot weather has hit us here in Adelaide, i've noticed that the aircon in my EL Fairmont doesn't work very well. I contacted an auto elec and they said the most common thing on them is the condenser corroding and leaking, and it was $700 to replace. Is there a cheaper option for this? Also is it possible it's the TX valve or something else under the dash? Either way i'd rather fix as much as possible myself and just let them re gas it... |

more then likely it's a combination of the condenser leaking and the evap being clogged with s**t.
either way the compressor and the lines are about the only things still useful to you. |

Things like these don't help.......
And TX valves do wear out.

ok - is it easy for me to look at the condenser myself? i presume i'll see a green and/or oily patch if it's leaking?
as for the evap - is there any way to check it without ripping the whole dash out? |
