e-series mainly. But ford didnt bring out dedicated gas until au i think but still all the alloy heads have hardened valve seats, so that leads me 2 belive that there werent specific heads from lpg 2 petrol in any ford with alloy heads. Im only asking as a mechanic i work with tells me ford made different heads to suit gas and those heads had a green stripe marked over the heads serial number.

Hardened valve seats were needed due to the change to unleaded fuel. That occured in 1986 for Ford.
All E-series alloy heads are the same in that regard, though there were changes between models. Even the early XD's with alloy heads hard hardened valve seats, that's why they could happily run on unleaded fuel without an additive. |

in e series there was no dedicated gas at all, but there was no difference in the engine or heads..
although i do remember in ed or nc there was a tickford engine that had a green rocker cover, but i cant remember if it was a duel fuel option or a special model?.. au was the first dedicated gas. and afaik the only difference was in pistons for higher comp ratio and i think rods.. |

Minor revisions were made between models and thats all, no actual additional modifications were done to allow the provision of gas. Simple. The green pen may have been an engineers pen signing off on quality control and that is all. Otherwise I want to see one of the mythical green stripe heads for an actual difference.
